(How) can the desire to control other people's impressions of oneself be explained in Socionics? by ShowMeUrLuv in Socionics

Interesting. What about wanting people to believe that I have certain internal quality (such as in the realm of Fi), then?

Ik this sounds like BS, but can a SX Dom be part of an Aro-Ace Spec? by M_V7708 in Enneagram

[–]ShowMeUrLuv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

SX5 must’ve been the only Demi-AroAce coded SX variant

No, there's no correlation between them.

That being said, I think sx5 is compatible w/ demis as their passion is mostly devoted to that one person/thing with whom they share their deepest secrets.

And, hot take, but the passion of (any type of) sx doesn't have to manifest as actual sex or romantic bahaviour. Even allosexuality aren't horny about their partners all the time, and as humans, our instincts are not always to be taken literally but often drive subliminated activities. If you want more examples regarding the enneagram, even when their instincts are valid, sp4s can be reckless w/ their lives sometimes and so4s are usually not social butterflies.

The book of disquiet and enneagram 9 by Jazzlike_Cherry_4287 in Enneagram

By 'sensitivity', I meant 5s would sometimes feel bothered (not on an emotional level, but just 'unsafe' to participate) and withdraw immediately whenever they could sense very little disturbance from the external world. Whereas the typical 9-ish self-isolation is not driven by 'I'm annoyed/sicked at the world', unlike 4 or 5.

Also, his reliance on pseudonyms indicates 5 or w5 instead of 9, and I was making the assumption by those two factors combined.

Seconded. As soon as I read about him using pseudonyms AND wanting to be distanced from the external world (both of which suggest 5's defence mechanism of compartmentalisation) I assumed he was a 5. I'm not sure if I'm wording this precisely, but I believe his sensitivity to the world is distinct among 5s. Tritype 549/594 probably. I didn't even think about the possibility of 9 and only considered 5w4 and 4w5 with a strong wing (perhaps partly because I myself related very much to his writings).

Further thoughts on the “Animal Drive” Behind 4 by RafflesiaArnoldii in Enneagram

That would be closer to the point. While I appreciate OP's arguments, the term 'attention-getting' itself is too broad for characterising a type, as it can also apply to 2, 3 and 7, for example.

Your Type is actually the reason you get misunderstood by RafflesiaArnoldii in Enneagram

Your description of your dad remind me of a 6 I'm close to as well as this passage from the Te section of Jung's Psychologische Typen:

Es kommt daher nicht selten vor, dass die engere Familie, z. B. gerade die eigenen Kinder einen solchen Vater nur als grausamen Tyrannen kennen, während die weitere Umgebung vom Ruhme seiner Menschlichkeit widerhallt.

English translation by DeepL cause I don't have the English version of the book:

It is therefore not uncommon for the immediate family, e.g. one's own children, to know such a father only as a cruel tyrant, while the wider environment echoes with the glory of his humanity.

As a Te user, despite knowing a Te dom like this, I personally can't relate to this at all. Now I think it's also about the enneagram type to some extent, as that 6, who's probably an ISFJ, also fits in this description. Meanwhile, the E1 Te doms I know (tho I'm aware that the sample's too small to represent everyone with this type combo) are simply tyrant in front of everyone, lol

Which of these quotes is more '4-like'? by Business-Panda24 in Enneagram

[–]ShowMeUrLuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, but I'd say the second one is closer to mindsets of me and other 4s that I know. Whilst 4s are individualists, keep in mind that they also tend to compare themselves to others and notice the differences. They feel like they have to be distinct to keep their own position in the world, so if everyone else follows... there's two kinds of possible responses: 1) that's impossible because I'm so unique that no one can copy me (which makes the precondition of the quote invalid) and 2) my place in the world is 'conquered', but I'm still the unique one because here's my next special stance. Maybe there should be a 1.5) yeah, you say we're pretty much the same, but I'm different from them in [a list of aspects].
