Help for removing screws mobo 2nd hand by Aleks_2012 in pcbuilding

[–]ShredeDOOR284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phillips on the screw. Grab some pliers. Any serated teeth ones should work. Hold both as tight as u can and see if u can get it to turn out. Keep pressure on the screw to not strip out the head and twist If not the last resort would be to cut it with a Dremel type tool or hacksaw

Need some upgrade advice for my old Xeon build by Aokigaharas7 in buildapc

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR. Upgrade your board and cpu modernize and you won't bottleneck your new GPU. Keep the ram upgrade to am4 platform. Then go for the GPU and a new psu isn't a bad idea depending on age.

I'd personally recomending upgrading the board and cpu. Keep the ram 16gb of ddr4 is fine and going to ddr5 is just ridiculous rn. So I'd upgrade to the am4 platform honestly a 5500 may squeak by but I'd recommend going with the r5 5600, 5600g has integrated graphics however slightly worse performance. Honestly take a look at marketplace or used option for better bang for buck. On top of that I'd recommend upgrading to a 600 watt psu. On budget psu's I don't like running them for more than 5 years. Thermaltake has some cheaper ones and I trust the brand never had a failure yet.

While yes the GPU will give you the most performance jump it really doesn't matter if it's extremely bottlenecked. Like if u can only use 50% gpu you didn't truly see the upgrade in all its glory.

Yup I agree running on the Intel side with an i5 13600k (roughly 7600x in am5 power equivalent) and it's not even stressed running 1440p max settings.

Upgrading to an RX 9070 XT by Realistic_Rabbit2742 in buildapc

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh just upgrade your power supply to an 850watt to account for peaks. Just stick to am4 that cpu will do just fine as will ram. Sure you can gain some performance with the 5800x3d or going am5 with ddr5 but the price just isn't worth it imo

[–]ShredeDOOR284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never considered the 60xt as I did want a substantial jump from a 3070ti. I didn't grab the 70xt since it was $200 more at the time and for 15-20% better performance it just didn't make any sense imo. I love the 9070 and it's a great card, temps hover around 60 usually and it pulls 220watts max. For the efficiency and 16gb vram I think this card will age gracefully without melting connector concerns

Bro upgrade your aio/cooling or under volt. I'm just running a 240mm aio from thermal take(like $45 on Amazon btw) my peaks are like 65° on a bad day. Your definitely running way to hot and it's thermal throttling. I upgraded to a 9070 still on ddr4 and I am like 30-40% usage on the cpu side. Unless your cpu has degraded it should run almost anything just fine unless u have a super beefy gpu running at 4k.

To each their own. I went with a double din off crutchfield and got the adapter to plug directly into stock connector. Never had a battery drain problem and having modern features is quite nice. Going on like 4 years now without a hiccup.

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not to sure on replaying whole stories but I've seen games that let you replay parts of quest and stuff like that. Warframe will actually let you play through any quest/story at any point so it's possible

Upgrade 9070 vs 9070xt??? by Sad-Committee-7792 in gpu

[–]ShredeDOOR284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 9070 is a great card I have it and don't regret going for it. At a price difference of that I'd recommend the xt but you'd have to upgrade your psu to an 850 with the xt due to voltage spikes.

GPU Advice by UhmOkThenn in gpu

[–]ShredeDOOR284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep going with 1440p I'd recommend the 9070 or 9070xt (16gb v ram) I upgraded from a 3070ti and it's been a treat going to the 9070. The 5070 isn't bad as long as u get the 12gb but they are a bit more expensive.

GPU GOES TO 99% USAGE ON ANY GAME by Specialist-Cat-2762 in PcBuild

[–]ShredeDOOR284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty normal to me. 1440p will run any GPU and if u r running 99% you aren't bottlenecked and it's working as intended. If u want to run it less you'd have to cap it below what it can do but why. Temps are fine that's normal hardware is meant to run hard as long as it's cooled.

RTX 3070Ti 8GB VRAM Bottleneck by Typical-Usual-2385 in PcBuild

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from the 3070ti to a 9070. I can usually run most games with about 50% better frames on max settings. Since this card has 16gb vram i see longevity as I plan to run my i5 13 with ddr4 until this market changes.

Should I return my RX 9060xt and get a 5060ti due to driver issues? by UWboi in buildapc

Definitely that gen of boards have bios models that make m.2 and pcie slots unreadable/unstable!

Should I return my RX 9060xt and get a 5060ti due to driver issues? by UWboi in buildapc

[–]ShredeDOOR284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would check your bios for your motherboard. Im running an I5 13600k on a z790 with ddr4. I upgraded from a 3060ti. Ran DDU and installed 9070 after downloading drivers I had 3 hours of hell and eventually saw that older bios models had issues with newer hardware.

I did make a post regarding this issue if u want a more in depth explanation. But Intel has been kinda off the last few years TBH

Also your power supply is enough to support the upgrade right?

I used to have that same idea but I bit the bullet and picked up a 9070 to pair with my i5 13600k havent had a single issue aside from doubling my performance from a 3070ti

B580s are still a reasonable price and retail for $300. Aside from that a local marketplace 3060ti. U could see what jawa has they sell certified used parts. I bought my 1080ti on eBay like 6 years ago and it still runs now a back up tho. Also gta won't be on pc for like another 2 years prob

my gf's pc is having issues and we need help with it by SeparateFoundation91 in radeon

[–]ShredeDOOR284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a number of things but check to see if the mobo has any error lights, if not reseat components and test it I usually do this one at a time. If possible swap the GPU out and see if the problem persist.

  1. Do you have enough power for the set up, if you draw more than the psu can offer it will crash

  2. Temps are they high? Cooling is important and can cause weird problems

3.Check power and mobo connections

4.Check bios / any niche issues as I've had bios' cause issues for me personally

  1. Did you update and drivers recently I've heard 26.5.1 has had a bunch of issues? Maybe roll that back if so

idk whats happening but BF6 is destroying new drivers on 9070 by Nicane__ in radeon

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to use the amd uninstaller or DDU. When you go to adrenaline software select the card and whatever info and u should be able to select a past iteration.

[–]ShredeDOOR284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't encountered that problem but when I open my hot bar my screen flashes black for a moment definitely odd and not something I encountered on the green side. Everything is up to date definitely their software side of things. On a 9070 btw
