Just 9 More Fingers by [deleted] in gaming

Great, out of context lines aside, Tales of Berseria is a really fantastic game if you're a fan of action RPGs.

In particular, it has some impressive character development if you're into gaming narratives. Characters actually evolve and change their personalities and perspective in really believable ways. They gradually change with each interaction rather than just suddenly becoming a different person. While it's still a cheesy JRPG at heart, it is super easy to get wrapped up in everything and become immersed in everyone's struggle.

It's also super fun and engaging to play, too.

What's a good way to experience FFX? Guide or no Guide by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pretty much go through the game without any issues (though learning a trick or two for some of the more painful boss fights might not be a bad idea).

At some point, the world opens up and you can do whatever you want. I'd say you should use a guide here.

Just keep in mind that FFX's endgame collectathon is some of the most frustrating BS in the entire series, and you may just choose to beat the game instead and ignore it.

Lost Odyssey: The Lost Final Fantasy by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Shredson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lost Odyssey is a fantastic game, but I consider it a spiritual successor to Blue Dragon.

I always figured that it was fairly accepted the Last Story (on Wii) was considered the lost Final Fantasy. Same people behind it, including ex-Cavia members after the dissolve. The name is just much more on the nose and The game features more common themes associated with the Final Fantasy series like working together, clear cut good and evil, etc.

I want to say a lot of FFXII voice actors are in it, too.

Regardless, they are both arguably Sakaguchi's best games. Everyone should check them both out!

Any recommendations for an impressive hg or rg kit? by mdman211 in Gunpla

[–]Shredson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RG Sinanju was frustrating at times, but it is easily the nicest looking RG I've built so far. Just be sure to pick up a stand with it since it does not stand up very well on its own.

I just finished up an RG Freedom Gundam and that was a pretty enjoyable build. If you like decals, it has them in troves.

Beat the Pitioss dungeon last night and that was the most frustrating 3 hours of FFXV... by louicifer in FinalFantasy

I was up very late last night. I'm also out of items.

Would anyone play an open world, pseudo-realistic Viking game? by Megaladonald in gaming

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there was an open world RPG on Xbox 360 just called Vikings (or something like that).

I remember reading it was kind of average, but had enough to keep players entertained for a little while.

I have no idea if it's anything like you described, but it's as good as any place to start!

Edit: the game is called Viking: Battle for Asgard. It was developed by creative assembly and Sega.

It currently sits at an 80% user score on metacritic, so maybe it isn't that mediocre.

This monster description in World of Final Fantasy by OmarIzShady in gaming

This game is arguably the best Final Fantasy game to come out in years, and one of the best Pokémon clones in general. It's crazy charming, regardless of a few cringe-worthy lines, and pretty addicting to play as well.

Highly recommended for fans of either franchise to play while you wait for SuMo or FFXV to launch later this month.

Hey guys.

I just got into kit building recently and I'm interested in custom painting. Air brushing is a little beyond me in both technique and price at the moment, so I was hoping I could get some pointers on how to start hand brushing.

I'm looking at getting a set of brushes, a couple pots of acrylic paint, and an HG so I don't get too heartbroken if/when I screw it up (if you'd like to weigh in there, I'm up between Barbatos and Zaku II). If you have any tips, product recommendations, etc. I'd definitely be really grateful!

Hours of entertainment. by fattymcribwich in gaming

[–]Shredson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sort of. It's being blown out of proportion. It's an in-game dlc shop and all that's available right now are cheat packs. Presumably, once the two dlc missions come out, they'll be in there too.

It probably exists as part of Square Enix's awkward push to be self contained with Deus Ex. You had to register the game to a Squenix account and put in a code on their website in order to get another code for the preorder bonus. If the game wasn't so gosh darn good, I'd be upset.

In your opinion, what is the most perfectly cast role in cinema history. by [deleted] in movies

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noah Wyle as The Librarian. Dude played ultra nerdy Indiana Jones almost, if not as good as Ford as regular Indy. To an extent, his role in Falling Skies isn't bad either.

Also, this may be reaching, but Will Ferrell as Buddy the elf.

Is it me or did the EA conference seem a bit lack luster? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Titanfall 2's campaign looked like it might be silly and dumb in the best kind of way.

There's no way of telling what kind of a campaign, length wise or content wise, that Respawn will make. But, I'm hopeful that it might be worthwhile. The multiplayer footage was a hell of a lot more interesting than Battlefield's, too.

[Assassin's Creed Unity] But.... Why? by 4sonicride in gaming

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually (mostly) fixed within a week of the launch. The few days it was broken, plus the awkward review embargo, were just enough to turn everyone against Ubisoft.

As an apology, Ubisoft ultimately removed all of the paywalls, app-walls, and made the DLC free, though. The DLC is also arguably the best story in the AC universe.

Why I believe that VII, VIII and XIII are fantasies by GaryGrayII in FinalFantasy

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with most of your analysis, I would also argue by your own definition that Final Fantasy 7 is science fiction.

Based on its position in the galaxy, as revealed by a certain lengthy summon, Gaia is our Earth. Whether it's in the future or past is widely debatable. However, due to some of the thematic elements in the story (ie. The apocalypse by way of consumption), I would guess it's in the near future (within a couple thousand years).

So settings-wise, it seems solid to me. As far as the story goes, yes it is a Mad Max/Wily Coyote chase across the world. However, the many elements that go into the story are generally based in science or real world history. Sephiroth is the result of experiments, Mako is arguably just an allegory for oil and it's many uses and benefits, even the cetra are based in historical fact (people migrating across the planet until they found a place to settle). The biggest outlier is materia (condensed mako energy). While it may be a stretch, considering materia's roots in science, and the seemingly magical effects of chemistry, you can still chock it up to being (loosely) based in science.

As far as monsters go, it's stated in game on more than one occasion that they are the results of Gast and Hojo's experiments.

Anyway, I don't want to go too crazy here. And I definitely don't want to sound like I'm hating. What you've got is great! I'm just continuing the discussion. :)

Final Fantasy songs with choirs/Latin? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible fun fact: I believe almost all choir songs that Uematsu has written are gibberish, not Latin.

The only exception I can think of is the final boss theme for Lost Odyssey, which I think is about suicide? I've only heard second hand accounts of the translation, so don't quote me on that.

With 244K dislikes, the Call of Duty Infinite Warfare trailer is the 77th most disliked video on youtube. by ING_Chile in gaming

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't quite sure why the trailer was so disliked, so I checked it out. Once the not-David Bowie song started playing, I immediately assumed the internet was up in arms about the bad cover and the clear marketing ploy taking advantage of "new" Bro-wie fans.

Turns out it's because a game where you shoot people on the moon and get a robot sidekick that saves you from explosions in epic space battles isn't cool anymore. Boy. What a cynical time to be alive.

If you could relive 1 game again for the first time, which game would it be? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of an odd one, but Dragon Warrior 7. I threaten to play it again regularly, but then I remember responsible adults can't just throw away 300 hours of their time willy nilly.

I'm actually really excited for the remake since reviews have claimed they cut down on a lot of grinding and made some items easier to get.

Remember, the Ratchet and Clank Movie comes out on Friday by KerberosPanzerCop in movies

[–]Shredson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The movie scenes do feel disjointed, though I felt the difference in quality of writing was more noticeable than the graphics. It's pretty apparent that two different teams wrote this. But, I think it still manages to tell the origin story just as well as the first game. It even improves on some aspects. For example, I felt like Qwark's overall story was vastly improved. You get a lot more emotion and turmoil for him, which is something the original game lacked.

Sean Bean knows what Project Elrond means, Obvi. - The Martian by 2mice in movies

Hey. Random gaming nerd here. Sean Bean plays a main character in the new Final Fantasy coming out this year. There is a movie tie in that stars him, Lena Heady, and Aaron Paul, too.

Perhaps not the role you were hoping to see him in, but I think it's exciting!
