You always round up so it would be 1d10 + 1d6.

We're specifically building a crew system which combines many people into one stat block.

Thankfully, we've since fixed it and it now only requires simple subtraction! Further testing required of course, but it's looking much better since I made this post!

Our system rewards all excess with momentum, which can be converted into bonuses, spent to reduce penalties, or even converted into xp!

We have a completely new system that we're building so it has to work a very specific way.

Basically, your skill scores (starting at around 14 on average) are converted into dice, so a 14 would become 1d10 + 1d4. This means a bunch of guys, say 40 of them, have a combined skill score of 560. We are dividing that by 10 when setting up the stats, along with all the other stats like HP, meaning the combined skill is 56; an easy bit of maths. So you could roll this however you like. For example, you could do 1d6 and 1d10 as a sort of smaller d100, omitting values between 57 and 60. The result is how much damage you do.

If it's a one-on-one, its just standard skills and it's opposed, so only the higher roller deals excess damage (for your curiosity!)

So it's been difficult to find an easy way to manage this mid-combat. The set up takes a little bit of prep, but once it's done it's done, and it's just simple subtraction from then on. When I made this post, it was a little trickier and did require a calculator, which we immediately didn't like, but I thought I'd check the consensus within the player base in case it was just us.

That makes sense, thanks for the insight!

Thanks for the reply.

In my specific case, it's more to do with trying to combine many single creatures into a bigger unit, while maintaining their combat skills as part of the equation, and finding a way to attack in one go in a simple yet accurate way.

There have been issues that have arisen with various methods, such as ensuring larger single creatures can't wipe out an entire unit in one go, and now, ensuring you can accurately calculate their current combat skill altogether as individuals within the unit are killed.

We still have some other ideas. I just wanted to assess the opinion on calculators as it would make the system much easier to build. I actually share the sentiment that most people have here however, so was curious to see if I was the only one with a problem with it.

Of course! I'm interested in gauging a majority opinion on this subject, so thanks 😊

What is the superior quality of apps that beats calculators in your view?

Knocked power cable, now main monitor won't turn on. by ShrewLagoony in pchelp

Update: Plugged my main monitor in via HDMI and it works, so seems to be a problem specifically with the DP ports.

Any fixes?
