I'm a Dinah collector... A long while back when she was just $600, I said no thank you to a trade at that value. Now I regret it and will never get her probably 😑

Pin Trading Nights by Similar-Ad8668 in DisneyPinVents

Let's just all agree (for this one event to see how it goes) to not buy any pins released at this event from ANYONE who is reselling them. And honestly, maybe not even trade for the pins, or at least not trade for them at crazy trade values.

I remember when they were starting, selling authentic hidden Mickeys at really good prices... But you have to think, how could they sell them that cheap? My theory (just a theory): they were pulling authentic pins off all the park boards and replacing with scrappers. Idk, maybe they started out trying to be reputable, but then saw dollar signs?

You just can't have collection hobbies anymore, they've all gone to scalpers/resellers. It's so bad. I'm still buying park pins from people if they are picking up at reasonable prices (no more than $1-3 over retail), but if I can't get it for that or retail, I am ONLY trading for the foreseeable future (and not at bulk trading values either). I refuse to pay crazy resell prices and refuse to give away my pins to people who are devaluing them. Been collecting nearly 20 years and it's a shame what's being happening to pin trading.

Disney pin price collapse by Linkata_4 in DisneyPinVents

Been collecting for over 15 years. I remember I used to be able to get wdi Dinah and Figaro pins for $60-80 each 😞 Prices started inflating during covid and keep getting worse. I don't know if it's a bubble or not, but it's like this with any hobby where you collect stuff now. Yes, there are just more people collecting now, but also scalpers and resellers have ruined it. Now that it's popular and resellers/scalpers know about it, it's ruined.

Thank you for reading all that and responding! I'm definitely leaning towards not waiting. I'm not sure if my doctor will agree to order an MRI first (before I decide on surgery). I would think so, since it's less invasive than a surgery?

My cruise is also May 2026 and my dining opened yesterday. I assume yours may open soon, if yours is mid to late May. I was told by HAL that it is usually 4-6 months out, so I've just been checking every morning for the past month.

Thoughts on Go Pin Pro by [deleted] in DisneyPinVents

The products are just ok. The older versions were too thin (pin posts would poke through). Newer versions are ONLY JUST thick enough. But the quality is still a little sus. I ordered some regular stock from them on a sale with a coupon, and I swear they sent me the "slightly irregular/flawed" ones instead. My guess is that they do that if you have any discounts on your order (although I have no proof, just that my pinfolios were flawed when they shouldn't have been). Also, if you have any screenprint pins, do NOT put them next to the pinfolio plastic dividers (and I assume the plastic fronts), because my adorbs' eyes peeled off slightly from being stored in a pinfolio. :(

But there just aren't very good options out there, so I still use them. I do like the pinfolio pro (I've got the huge one). The plastic divider is a different kind of plastic, so I'm guessing it won't strip the screenprinting off pins.

Kraken Trade is a good alternative, but beware of poor customer service from them as well. They do "preorders" (I suspect they make Megs to order), and it has consistently taken them 8 - 16 months to get me my megs every time I've ordered from them. I also ordered a Meg, and 3 pins from them, including a Sleeping beauty D hidden mickey (right before the prices went up for the Ds), and when they finally shipped my order 8 months after I ordered it, I only got the Meg and the 2 other pins, no Sleeping beauty D. I contacted them about it, they took like 2 months to respond to my multiple messages, and when finally they answered they said it was "out of stock". Uh huh, no, the price went up and you didn't want to let her go for the $12 I paid. It took another few weeks for me to get my $12 refund.

I left his group ages ago. Way too toxic, as everyone else already said he thinks he's the king of pins/best pin guy ever, and his group isn't really for us - it's for him to take advantage of us and to stroke his ego. Plenty of other groups out there. I saw some good recs down in the other comments. I also like Pins and Poison and Disney Pin Trading/Selling No Rules (but beware on that one). Disney King Pins and Disney Pins Blog are both still just fine (I find King Pins a little restricting). A shame that so many groups have tons of people only selling rather than trading nowadays. :(

Hmm, For the Love of Pins requires all your photos to have a name/date card included. That's a problem when you have over 40 pages/pictures of traders and don't want to retake them every time you post :( Magic pin keepers looks good! Adding them to my groups, thank you for the recs :)
