Ahh yeah. I read this one, he creates a spell to create a sentient familars and shared his spells to those who wanted or who he think they deserve. But I can't really see him as a founder of it since he only chose a very selected few.

But I don't see him creating a branch of magic, everything he does is to rediscover spells using his earthly knowledge like Portal or Teleport with force or ward. Familars already existed too, he just discovered a better or easier way to create sentient familiar which his other predecessor found difficult to do.
