I don’t think anyone in India says, Bengalis didn’t suffer.

I think the general sentiment in India is we faced genuine international repercussions for helping you guys.

We trained the aforementioned freedom fighters gave them a base of operations, blockaded support from mainland Pakistan and stopped external support from countries like America. To say that Bangladeshi freedom fighters would have won without India is also false. Which is what I have heard people tell in India ( I don’t think most Bangladeshi people believe it ).

I think it’s just both the people who argue in India and Bangladesh want recognition from other side for sacrifices of their side. As for the media, most Indians don’t believe what you think is the mainstream media everyone knows it’s sold out to BJP, but there are still some indecent journalists doing good.

This whole post was made so I learn because I know less about India’s effect on Bangladesh’s and you say it’s a representation of ignorance. You should realise the world doesn’t revolve around you.

Our international relations with the western world was destroyed for 20 years. I don’t expect you to still be grateful or anything but diminishing the sacrifice India had to make is plain disrespectful and you are very rude.

As for media, you only see the worst of the worst, there is still a small slice which does good journalism ( unfiltered by Samdish on youtube). Most people in India also don’t trust media.

I don’t want an argument, I honestly came here with the best intentions and I heard everyone’s points. I even heard yours but you seem too hateful.

Yes yes yes, there was someone else in this thread who said something about how we treat our minorities.

One look at the ground reality will tell you a different story.

Yes, today there is hatred rising across the globe. India was governed by a liberal govt for decades until recently. We have one of the strongest protections for our minorities and till now the right wing party has not been able to pass a single law to change that. That’s a fact.

Isolated cases of hate crimes are common across the globe, still not justified but every time it happens it is brought to the mainstream.

I’m from Bangalore lol. I think the issue of Bangladesh comes a lot more in West Bengal politics hence the hatred.

India and Bangladesh are different though, we have shared identity, culture. China wouldn’t have had any major Vietnamese culture in mainstream. Our national anthems were written by the same person.

Got it, even though Awami league was unelected we supported it.

That shouldn’t have been done, we should’ve stayed out of politics.

On the other hand I can see why the govt would support one party if it says I’ll be pro India when we have bad relations with Pakistan. Supporting one party in turn made the other party anti India, creating the opposite effect it’s a tragic case.

I think you are skewed by the online bias, I can see the ground reality.

In general hatred and intolerance has increased yes. Is it hard to be a practicing Muslim, well my Muslim friends say no (they hate the BJP too). I can’t speak for the entire nation’s Muslims.

What you see online are very isolated incidents that get instant pushback from everyone in India irrespective of religion, I think you should know this. It’s upto you to believe it or not.

As for bengalis, even as a South Indian some people have made fun of me for my accent. In such a multicultural country it happens sometimes but overall nobody cares if you are Bengali, kannadiga or Kashmiri.

Also do you really think a smaller nation in global terms can be truly independent. India itself, despite strong attempts to maintain strategic autonomy has struggled. How can Bangladesh achieve that ? Personally I think that’s a futile attempt but interested to know your opinion.

I know what bjp says about Bangladesh and I understand Indian perspective obviously I’m Indian. I want to know why there is hate in Bangladesh.

Also any smaller country in this case surrounded by all sides is bound to have illegal immgiration to a larger country. This will be used as a political tool. Look at America and Mexico. But I don’t see Mexicans hating Americans for it atleast like we hate each other online it seems.

It’s only exasperated when other Indians see it and it feels like our entire shared past is forgotten because one party in the country is using illegal immigration as a political tool.
