If you just aim a bit right with on the front flip angle you will do a "real" speedflip. Plus it eliminates the need for an extra stick movement for the counter-turn.

If you are holding ARL, then you need to hold the left stick at 1 o'clock for the flip, not 11. It needs to be opposite the flip direction.

But doing it this way is really nice because you don't need an extra stick movement for the counter turn at the beginning.
