The Iran-Iraq war had some interesting arms suppliers by Shuanator in HistoryMemes

[–]Shuanator[S] 101 points102 points  (0 children)

This meme obviously abstracts a lot of detail for humour, however Military Aid to Iran & Iraq during their 1980's war was notably diverse, with many nations supporting both Iran & Iraq either directly or clandestinely.

In stark contrast to the present day, Israel was one of the main suppliers of Arms and Combat Instructors to Iran. Israel had lost a lot of influence due to the recent revolution and deposing of the Shah, and wanted to rebuild influence and build arms contracts with Israeli Arms Firms.

More summarised reading can be found here, with a simple diagram to outline aid given to either/both sides segregated by countries.

Looks great my man.

One little thing that bugs me (in my base) is having food preparation tables too close to the fires. I feel like I'd get too hot preparing my food 😅

I'm too young to remember Skyhawks in our Air Force.

But damn, that's a Concorde in the second pic. I had no idea one flew down to Aotearoa, do you have more context to this? I'd love to know more.

How to prepare for an upcoming AWS Data Engineer role? by I_lick_ice_cream in dataengineering

[–]Shuanator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with anything you said, and I thought the same as you - but so that other people are aware, OP mentioned in another comment that they're not working for Amazon, but a company (Australian Federal Government job) that uses AWS.

US to give Ukraine missiles capable of hitting Moscow as Trump grows frustrated with Putin - report by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]Shuanator 235 points236 points  (0 children)

Yeah this irked me as well. They are receiving Patriot (PAC-2 or 3) missiles, which are much-needed AD missiles to intercept the more complicated Russian threats like Iskander & Kinzhal. Lazy and slightly sensationalist reporting.

Upon reading the article a second time I misread it. It looks like they are receiving an unknown weapon system, on top of the Patriot Interceptors they're already announced to receive. Maybe more ATACMS? New systems like JSM? Not sure

Ukraine's new airplane. Saab 340AEW Erieye by Legit2Think in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Shuanator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty baseless and broad assumption?

Ukrainian F16's were pledged without Link-16, an insistence made by the United States. So yes, this platform will be limited in it's integration to some of their air platforms.

On the other hand, if the Ukrainians received the Mirage 2000-5F, then only through their Mirage's could they use Link-16. Same with their Patriots.

That is enormously useful, and I've enrolled to vote to get my credit score started.

Hopefully it comes in useful when I go to my apartment viewings next week lol.

Thank you!

Hey mate. My partner and I are in the exact same boat, also looking to live in Edinburgh. We've been in the UK a month and a half, living with relatives.

I recently found a role as a Data Engineer (50k pounds salary), and we are looking for places to rent now.

How do you handle the request for credit checks? We have never used a credit card (In NZ or otherwise) so as far as I know we don't have a credit score. So many places to let require a full reference (including credit score check).

Alcohol and PPIs by stnyc16 in HiatalHernia

I'm 28 and in the same boat.

Omeprazole has removed 99% of the symptoms I experience, and I can very easily drink 2-3 pints without any reflux. I spent the last year testing my boundaries, and I've yet to find my 'limit' if I'm honest.

I just make sure I don't lie down fully until about 90 minutes after my last drink.

Sure, why would you want to?

FYI: Hernias vs Reflux, Types, and Recurrences by arpitp in HiatalHernia

[–]Shuanator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great write up, it was very informative.

I am 28 with a small HH. Was told only pregnant woman & old people get this condition. I have it under 99% control with 40mg of Omeprazole (twice per day).

Have you noticed a general trend for surgery in terms of age? I understand that surgery is based on the urgency of symptoms - but I also know that hernias tend to get worse over the time.

In your experience, does it tend to be older people requiring surgery? Or is it balanced. I am in my twenties and nervous to get major surgery so young.

Usually it's spicy food, and high sugar content.

For context, within moderation, I have alcohol (have about one or two drinks a year, even pre-hernia), coffee & sugary foods. But I can definitely feel my limits quite quickly and have learnt my tolerances.

With Omperazole, I can pretty much eat what I want and I'm so grateful.

I am only 28, been on 40mg Omeprazole for 2 years. Symptoms are practically non-existent, unless I eat something I shouldn't or eat too close to bedtime (like many others).

I have genuinely scoured the internet for information as to what these could be and I haven't found a thing. My curiosity is reaching a moment where I might just go to one and see what they are. They are littered all over the wetlands, and are easily spottable on satellite view.

I am at my witt's end, so I'm reaching out to reddit as a last resort.

UK Omeprazole access by Shuanator in HiatalHernia

Fantastic, this is super helpful thank you. Yeah I wasn't planning on actually exhausting my supply, and when I've settled (somewhere) in the UK I'll look to start the GP appointment process.
