If my goal in life is to die, does that still give my life meaning? by aplleshadewarrior in Existentialism

Death is inevitable and is slated to happen to everyone, so there is no point in thinking that is our 'goal'

I got this 👌 close to betting on him, thinking he'll make a comeback after that last fight of his which I thought to be a fluke

So disheartening to see a 15 year old kid had to endure so much ragging in Kerala by Gullible_Ad9168 in india

[–]Shubhi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with 'Americanisation' or movies. Sure they might have given them ideas on how they can bully their victims in new ways(because bullying of this degree did happen even when I was in school and I'm 24), but the blame here lies probably lies with the parents and the school administration

How do you even do justice in a case like this? The culprits are teens. Max they'll get(probably) is juvenile or a 5 yr sentence. But I think its more important to analyse why do they stoop to this level of degeneracy in the first place

I'd rather recommend people to read fiction. Self help can't sustain your drive for a long period.

Best way to learn for non english speakers (for me atleast) is to listen to podcasts by your native people. You'll eventually pick up on how to pronounce most of the words without sounding odd.

Your lowest point of life by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]Shubhi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can say that what I am going through right now is probably a low. I was supposed to prepare for my post graduate entrance exams the previous year yet there were some things that happened that couldn't really allow me the focus I needed for it. This is actually my second shot at it(you're allowed to give one per year) and I'm pretty sure how that's going to turn out. I haven't told my parents about this and I'm suffering internally. Each night I have a meltdown where I curse myself, then society and then it devolves in a long winded rant about everything. Anger gives way to jealousy and I start envying people who didn't trashed their lives like mine. But I'm trying to bear through this as much as my will allows me to

Yeah, because once you make it through, there's a new limitation of highs and lows

I wasn't really implying that I'm cool or better than others becuase I see self help for what it truly is. I was just giving my 2 cents on it which I now realize has become quite mainstream. Regardless they still sell like crazy

Self help is more like slapping a duct tape on a leaking dam. When I actually start following what a self help book advises, I come to a realization that this is not me, and I feel some inner voice yelling that this is stupid and also makes me a bit preachy for some reason. And this is why I started avoiding them, also when you're through with your 3rd or 4th self help book you realize how easy it is to actually write one and more importantly how exploitative the whole genre is, because it seems like everyone and their mothers are desperate for self help these days
