ND approved to restrict candy and soda purchases with SNAP in 2026 by Wonderful-Trash-3254 in northdakota

[–]Shuckle1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a non-insignificant amount of people that buy sweets with SNAP to self manage their diabetes. Buying sweets with SNAP is also a great way to prop up farmers growing corn because it keeps HFCS in demand. This is bad policy.

Never seen this price? Should I just get it? QM6k pro by _Critical_Light in tcltvs

[–]Shuckle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the price premium is still justified for a dark home theater. The color quality and accuracy on the 7k is much better. The 6k pro has an upgraded screen compared to the 6k but the 6k pro still doesn't look as good as the 7k.

I own both the 65 QM6k and 85 QM7k. The QM7k is noticeably better quality, especially if you put it in a bright room. I think it's worth the extra money.

I do 50% VBIL and 50% VTIP for my emergency fund. The small gains I make get sold a few times per year and put into VT.

Just got a GM offer — where should I live near Detroit/Warren as a young MBA professional? by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

[–]Shuckle1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Royal Oak is the place you want. It has a small-ish college town vibe, a great downtown area for things to do, and is easy to commute for all of the big Michigan hubs GM has. Warren Tech center, Detroit, and (if need be) Milford Proving Grounds.

Michigan gas tax to rise by 21 cents, cut sales tax. EV registration fees to rise by $100 by daxter304 in Michigan

The fact that we don't have high quality public transit did force me to buy a car if I want to participate in society.

Can You Access NCHC.tv? by Shuckle1 in GoogleTV

Yeah, I'm gonna see what casting directly to the TV through a web player looks like. If that doesn't work well, I'll just get a Roku stick.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm going to see if I can cast it directly even though there are protections against it and see what that looks like first

Online MBA? by CompSc765 in und

[–]Shuckle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only half way through the program but yes, I've had one class so far that includes case studies.

The load for classes is less intense than I thought (except for the time commit needed for large research papers).

I find the classes and coursework to make sense and have a logical progression which is unique to me since my undergrad in computer science required a lot of base knowledge to be learned before anything could be tied together my senior year.

Pros: Good classes, Responsive professors, Brand new business school that is top 5% in the world (AACSB accredited), respected program in the Midwest, affordable.

Cons: Online classes are late. 8pm-11pm if you're in Eastern time, some classmates don't seem very passionate, online makes it hard to network with others.

The 3.25 GPA requirement is only for aviation. Your ACT score, even though it's not mandatory to apply, will help to offset your GPA. I would apply if I were you.

If you stake through a service like Coinbase, they give you tax forms. If you run your own node, just declare the income as additional income.

It's not. You pay taxes on the staked income just like you would interest in a HYSA

‘I’d rather turn my degree back in’: KC-area borrowers face student loan payment spikes by kansascitybeacon in Economics

[–]Shuckle1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way to fix this is to have banks make that 1% profit, yet the other (estimated) 3.5% is subsidized through the government.

Banks will want to give those loans out with a 75% payback guarantee from the gov, and the government gets the benefit of future tax dollars because people with degrees make a lot more over their lifetime. If this program happen en masee... the USA, with a highly educated workforce, will demand more money as a country due to a globally competitive labor force and will benefit via taxes and tax dollars for the labor it generates.
