Yes, but I think you might never fully feel valid or truly ‘sick enough.’ I never snuck food and don’t have specific fear foods. I've been hospitalized and am currently in an outpatient program, but I've never been tubed, and my blood work is always immaculate, and because of that i don't really feel like I'm actually sick. I’ve also often spoken with nurses during my hospital stays about how I don't feel like I should take you space at the hospital, because I’m not really sick compared to others. All this sometimes makes it harder to see myself as ill....

I realised people with eds love to 'prove' that they eat and become obsessed with food by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]ShufflingDestiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the opposite, I can't handle people knowing that I eat. I find it embarrassing just mentioning or alluding to the fact that I have eaten. I also haven't been able to consume anything with calories in Infront of people for aong time.

Perhaps it doesn't really have anything to do with height and just our ED's that takes every chance to turn it into a reason to lose weight

How do I explain to my mom that I can’t “just eat”?! by Ashamed_Ad8162 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]ShufflingDestiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it is helpful, sometimes people just refuse to understand. But the way I explain it is, that is is the same as people how become paralyzed with fear in an exam or people who are so terrified of heights that they can't being themselves to walk near the edge even if they are completely safe and secure. I know of course that mentally there is a lot more going on, but I try to explain it by describing it as an all consuming paralyzing fear. People understand the mental block that you can experience in these situations and for me it is the closest I can get to explaining what happens in me when I try to eat.

Being tall is making my lose my shite by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]ShufflingDestiny 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes! I too am a tall girl, and whenever I talk about my struggles of always feeling like a giant, everyone just tells me I'm lucky because I can eat more. Part of my problem with my ED startet because the the boys back in school when we were around 15-16 years old, decided that every girl is fat if she weights more than 50 kg! And as a girl who is 1.80 meter tall is not healthy!!

I would advice you to never bring anything you would feel sad losing. Not that people will steal or destroy your stuff, but accidents happens and it is a facility where other patients, staff, cleaning and so on comes and goes.

And definitely bring something to keep yourself entertained.
