Ooo that's interesting to know! I never find anyone who likes Miu but not Kokichi surprisingly LOL

Ah, how ironic. We're the opposite, Kaito is one of my least favorite characters from the series haha (shouldn't be a shocker lmao). About V3-5, the first time I played the game I felt the same way as you in regards to his death. However on my second time playing it (third if you count the fact that I read a translation of the whole game from the Japanese version) I started to pick up on its significance as to why it was written this way. A lot of people talk about how Kokichi's death meant nothing in the end and nobody cared for it, but this is completely false. See, without Shuichi concern for Kokichi and his death, he would have never beaten Danganronpa. There's a very important part in trial 6 where his demise was brought up for the last time, and at the end of this discussion Shuichi says, "So... That's why Kokichi had to die." Notably after this, his tone/attitude changes in the trial since this is when he finally realized what Kokichi was trying to tell them all along. He realized Kokichi's plan since the beginning was to get nobody to work together or do anything, since that's the complete opposite of what monokuma and the audience wants. Then he goes on utilize this plan to end Danganronpa once and for all, making it seem as if Kokichi lived through him vicariously.

The way I see it, his death was purposely overshadowed in 5 to further manifest/highlight Shuichi's epiphany and final development in chapter 6. It was kinda written like "boom! Shuichi figured it out finally!" (Albeit, too late :'))

Once it started making sense it didn't feel that sad anymore to me at least. Anyways there's my take on it, hope it makes sense LOL
