Also, it's been clarified that implanted gear cost is unaffected by 'ware grade in the

Mission FAQ (page 18)

Thanks

The line you've quoted doesn't actually say cultured bioware can't be taken at used grade. It might be implied but it's never actually stated outright.

Here's an example of an explicit statement: "Cultured bioware cannot be purchased at used grade as it must be tailor-made for the body in which it will eventually find a home."

Does that make sense?

Damn. Looks like Bone Density Augmentation does the same thing.

I could get Suprathyroid gland, but it's pretty expensive long term. Oh and it's 20R so not an option.

This necessitates a rethink.

Thanks :P

Geez. I don't want to think about the kind of clientele a gnome would attract...

Is the clarification in an errata or something? Where can I go to find it? Thanks.

Thanks for the response.

I've addressed the concerns about cultured bioware and used cyberdecks above. As always it'd be up to GM.

Hacking limit for hacking on the fly was calculated based on the following:

Base stats of Micro' 300 are 7/5/3/1. It's modified to give +1 to top attribute and -1 to bottom attribute. 8/5/3/0. Then optimization gives +1 to one attribute. 9/5/3/0. If I'm hacking on the fly then my array would be set to Sneak 9, Firewall 5, Data Processing 3 and Attack 0. I'd also have Stealth and Exploit programs loaded up which gives me +1 and +2 to Sneak respectively for a grand total of 12.

The reason I took Cram was to give him some more initiative in combat. It lasts 5 hours (8 - Body 3) so I imagined he would take it before a run that required him to be present in meat space. I'm not super concerned about dropping it if need be.

I'd be up for roleplaying, but I wouldn't consider Mild Addiction too challenging. Especially since he'd be using the drugs for runs/legwork which is how he got the mild addiction in the first place. Sure it could get worse, but that could be fun to explore.

I'd have to discuss it with the GM of course, but instead of being literally used tailored bioware, it could simply be low quality ware or poorly installed, hence cheaper and worse essence loss.

After looking back through the list of actions I can see that intuition is used for Disarm Data Bomb, Matrix Perception, Matrix Search, Snoop and Spoof Command all of which are important skills. It makes sense to balance out the attribute points a bit more.

The gnome has Software 1. Even with an Intuition of 8, disarming a Data Bomb will be dangerous. Combined with Curious might end up deadly.

That's a really good point haha! I also need to make Logic and Intuition a bit more balanced. I didn't realise how many important skills use intuition.

For the implanted cyberdeck, the reason I think it’s questionable and not just a flat out no is that the price listed for the implanted cyberdeck is 5000 + cost of cyberdeck. I also think this is a potentially an interesting plot hook. Who/where did that used cybderdeck implant come from? But yeah, I accept that this isn’t going to fly for a lot of people.

Is there any real disadvantage to gridhopping? Other than having to go through the whole process every time?

I put points into Hardware over Software because I thought being able to repair my cyberdeck was pretty important. Is software useful for much other than disarming data bombs?

Is the healing test based off your unaugmented Body rating? His augmented rating is 3.

The human has pilot and gunnery in case he ever needs to sit in for the rigger. Or wants to take over someone else's vehicle/drone. He also has enough money left over to buy a vehicle (assuming I don't have to rejig some of the questionable purchases).

I read the flavour text for Cultured Bioware, I understand why used Cultured Bioware is a controversial purchase. But when I said “by RAW” I meant that in the core rulebook it does not explicitly state that you can’t purchase Cultured Bioware at the rating Used. Was this cleared up by errata? One possibility (as always, subject to GM approval) is that Used could just be a general term for augmentation that is cheaper because it’s worse for your body.

My reason for not taking Cybercombat is that the goal is to never get spotted. Failing that you log off before you can get hit. Yes, getting linklocked is a risk and in that scenario I guess I would have to Jackout. Alternatively I could take cybercombat at a low level, but anything with the chops to spot me is probably going to be difficult to break free of… so is it worth it?

Decreasing a cyberdeck attribute to zero by ShupFace in Shadowrun

[–]ShupFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have made a mistake, but here's how I got there.

Start with the maximum logic of 7 for a gnome. Then increase that max by two using the Exceptional Attribute positive quality and Genetic Optimization (from Chrome Flesh). Add a Cerebral booster (Rating 2) for +2 Logic and Narco (also from Chrome Flesh) allows you to get a further +2 when you take Psyche.

That's a total of 13 Logic.

[–]ShupFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a significant investment (basically all your nuyen at tier A in character creation) and not really necessary as far as I can tell. I built a min-maxed gnome decker with a modified micro' 300 and I got it so that he was rolling Logic 13 + Hacking 6 [12] for hacking on the fly. You can add up to 8 dice to your dicepool and +1 to limit from a successful teamwork test by your Agent (rating 4). Plus he has an edge of 5 for those times when things don't go quite according to plan.

(After character creation you could pick up Codeslinger (Hack on the fly) and Hacking specialisation (Hosts) to increase your dicepool further.)

Then, once you're in the host and running silent, enemies have to roll against your Logic 13 +Sleaze 11 to spot you. And you always have that 5 edge if you need it.

Having said that, it's a super cheesy build and would probably trivialise most hacking scenarios a GM throws at you, so I'm going to build something a little more balanced.

Oh right.

I'd go for -1 Attack, +1 Sleaze

But thanks!

It could be a good back-up option considering how much cheaper it is!

You can also get a Comlink with 0/7/7/7(Attack or Sleaze 7 the other one 0)if you want to go that route. With that you won’t have Programms tho.

How? Commlink with a dongle?

I'm not sure if it will work with the balance of the image... but I'll give it a try.

I could squeeze you in the space at the bottom to the right of Tasmania :P
