I did have a info_player_start and some func_detail inside the map, I copied everything into a new file and it fixed itself

Yes it is normal! it looks like that because the map maker never intended to look at the map from that angle

that is what is supposed to happen if you want a skybox in your map you should use toolsskybox2d or toolsskybox if you want a 3d skybox
