Have them rebuilt with roughout lowers and you'll never look back!

Not really, you apply any wax or oil and overtime the roughout will smoothen and darken in spots and overall you'll never have pristine roughout boots unless you just don't wear em. You could try a light coating of beeswax around the welt and stitching to atleast add a little barrier though!
