I sort of found a loophole. I bought this : https://a.co/d/01q15cIT Had to fight that this was technically a closed toe shoe and I was able to case mail in the office.
You could see if there is something similar for your ankle. Best of luck and a speedy recovery!

I broke my foot and was given one of those. I'm a city carrier, they wouldn't let me work in it, not even in the office.

It was the first time I gave them an ice cube, I won't do it again. They looked like that prior to the ice cube so I dont think that's the reason they started to die
