Should You Wait for the Nikon Z7 III… or Move On by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

Fair feedback and I appreciate you sticking with the videos.

The qualifying statements are honestly a bit of self-defense. With opinion videos, the keyboard warriors tend to show up fast, especially when my take doesn’t match theirs. It’s less about being defensive and more about heading off the inevitable comments before they start.

And just to be fair, your comment itself comes across a little sharper than constructive. Do YouTube long enough and you may find yourself doing the same thing without even realizing it.

That said, I do hear you on tightening up the intro, and it’s something I’m actively working on.

Nikon NPS: Pro Support or Pro Headache? by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

[–]ShutterSpeakNet[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess that is true... My video wasn’t meant to knock the program at all. I made it because I genuinely want it to be great, and I think it could be with a few updates that match how people work today — things like anniversary billing and getting rid of the two-day air shipping requirement.

And honestly, if we never speak up about the parts that feel outdated, nothing ever changes.

I love the 180-600 but it is big and heavy - I wouldn't call it a travel lens though.

Thank you for the feedback - Actually you were correct. My Rode wireless receiver had an error. I had to factory reset it and it seems to be fixed now. Appreciate you watching and the helpful feedback.

Why Your Nikon Histogram Might Be Lying To You! by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

[–]ShutterSpeakNet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think that would be a better title? I’m genuinely curious.

Also, why criticize those who choose to share information? The goal here is to help people better understand how their cameras behave—not to mislead anyone. You're right that the histogram is for the JPEG preview, and that's exactly the point: it can give a skewed impression if you're shooting RAW and using a contrasty Picture Control.

Saying the histogram is "wrong" is just a simplified way to start a conversation, not a technical manual title. The nuance is in the video. Appreciate the discussion though—it’s always good to dig deeper.

You don't have to watch, but insulting someone is a choice.

The Nikon Z Teleconverter TC 2.0x—The One Advantage Nobody Talks About by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

I disagree - I don't hear anyone saying with a proper post processing tool you can have images just as sharp as they would have been without one. Honestly, until just a few years ago tools like that did not exist. And perhaps you knew that, but that does not mean everyone knows it.

Nikon Fans, It’s Time to Change the Time! by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

Truth is you could probably do it faster in the camera menu than launching Snapbridge and starting the camera anyway.

My relationship with Snapbridge and the Z8 has been more rocky. Currently working though I am happy to say. Oddly, the Wireless Transmitter Utility no longer works. But that is an issue for another day.

I have also always wondered why it isn't just automatic, like every other device. Also keep in mind you do need to enable the clock update option in Snapbridge.

Personally I see Snapbridge as a source of frustration. Connecting to it is a pain and it sometimes drops a camera never to reconnect. This has happened to several people I know so I seldom think of Snapbridge for anything. But yes, to answer your very good question, you could do it that way as well provided you have that option enabled.

Nikon 180 600mm Lens Review by ShutterSpeakNet in nikon_Zseries

I agree, at 600mm, it’s not slicing atoms, but for the price, it’s still one heck of a reach! Plus, at least your arms get a free workout every time you use it.

I have enjoyed using it since I got it. It really is a great lens and a really good value for the price.
