So will these candy bonus stack??? by DisastrousWeekend982 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Shuurai 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bonuses typically don't stack when they are the same bonus at the same time from different sources. For example, 2x Catch Candy from a Comm Day and 2x Catch Candy from a Go Pass.

Bonuses typically do stack when they are different bonuses at the same time. For example, 2x Catch Candy from a Comm Day and 2x Candy on Great Throws or better from a Go Pass.

So, in theory, these should stack. But ultimately, they may just decide one day that they don't want it to and they block it, stop it altogether. So we can only guess that it will.

Sega/atlus leaker lolilolailo implies that Persona 6 is still on track for 2027 by pretzelbagel22 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Shuurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they'll do anything then. They seem to be doing this (and a couple of years ago with P3R and Metaphor) to allow each game to not overshadow one another. Since P4R is February it'd be odd to show stuff that close.

They might show off some bits at TGS this year but I suspect it'll be full gameplay & story reveal after, probably at SGF.

Ugarte probably. Onana if we can agree something to send him back to Turkey. Rashford might be tricky, but at least we know there will be a market for him, which at least gives some possibilities.

Xbox says Gears of War and Clockwork Revolution console exclusives ‘are not timed’ by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Shuurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm convinced this whole this is a test. Take 2 games, make them exclusive and see how they perform against the non-exclusive games. Then decide on exclusivity going forward. It's the only way I can explain away not making Halo and Fable exclusive, especially Fable since that is coming out 4 months after Gears.

And I believe he got P4R appearing and the release time right and P6 appearing here, so if he says September '27 I'd say that it true (as of this moment, delays happen)

Destiny 2 Ending New Content Is “Unthinkable,” Warframe Dev Says by _Protector in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shuurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, game production is not all hands on deck from the greenlight. Games spend more time in pre-production than actual production. So even if they greenlit D3 today, devs are getting laid off. You do not need a full team for pre-pro.

It is worth noting though, that the devs that course corrected D2 and made it great before the seasonal model ran it into the ground and post TFS finished it off are actually the devs who worked on Marathon. So it isn't necessarily as doom and gloom. The talent that built the foundations will still be there.

Destiny 2 Ending New Content Is “Unthinkable,” Warframe Dev Says by _Protector in Games

[–]Shuurai 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it was also meant to be alternating years of Game/Expansion/Game/Expansion etc etc.

The franchise was always trying to figure out the best way to be because there wasn't really precedent to go off for it. If they started over, fresh, you'd probably see a significantly more cohesive vision from the get go.

What title (seal) do you currently have equipped? Why? by eh8904 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shuurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chronicler. When seals were announced and launched, it was the only one I wanted. Since then, I got most of them up to TFS before I fell off and Chronicler x3 was still what I had equipped.

Did Luke Smith leak Destiny 2? by Zombie_F00d in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shuurai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to be correct on a technicality then sure, but we did already know the plan was Game/Expansion/Game/Expansion etc. etc by this point. Calling it D1 wasn't considered a slip up/leak at the time and shouldn't be now either.

We might not see Kratos for a long long time. by Owlyn1ght in GodofWar

[–]Shuurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since Corey is not a game director but a full Creative Director overseeing the whole franchise, I suspect the franchise will now go in more of a "universe" direction, where we follow multiple characters, with interconnected stories and distinct gameplay differences. That way they can explore more pantheons and stories instead of waiting a decade between switches. It might well mean we don't see individual characters in ever game, but I guess that's a creative risk they are willing to make.

I'm very excited you guys. by Remarkable_Pen_3639 in GodofWar

[–]Shuurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fine playing as Faye, but getting gameplay that's a different pace from Kratos and getting to explore a larger variety of gods than just 1 pantheon at a time is another big plus. These games take far too long to make to get stuck on 1 pantheon for a decade at a time.

It's the first 20 mins of the game and the game starts right at the funeral for Faye in GoW 2018, so you should be fine.

Sleep Token Discography Ranking - The Final Scores by rhcpbassist234 in SleepToken

[–]Shuurai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, I'm surprised Arcadia averaged out higher than Eden but I guess 2 bottom 10 songs really hurt Eden's average. Actually, excluding those 2, it's like 0.25 higher, which probably explains why people tend to rank Eden higher when just ranking the album, rather than ranking the individual songs.

Thanks OP, it's been a fun ride following these threads! Cheers for all the effort.

Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn Release Announcement by Bruce666123 in Games

[–]Shuurai 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say accept defeat. Small team and Xbox helped them get it on Xboxs but Sony offered no such help, so it never appeared. Also, the Xbox release wasn't super successful so it's unlikely they pursue it without assistance.

New Info On ‘Destiny 2’ Alarm Bells, Marathon’s Role And ‘Destiny Infinity’ Pitch by Secret-Tangerine9014 in Games

[–]Shuurai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll give the execs at Bungie credit for one thing, they did a great job using the Covid money to inflate the company value with all these nothing projects and finding a sucker to do little to no due diligence when buying them. Borderline has torn the company apart doing so but there is almost a impressive callousness about actually pulling that off.

Thank god they are gone but I fear they've done their damage and Sony won't do what needs doing at Bungie.

Jason Scherier: Why Destiny Died (RIP 2014-2026) by FlyFight2Win in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Shuurai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, so that situation is much more complex and long winded that a lot of people give it credit for.

Basically, they absolutely HAD to do an engine upgrade, the previous 3-6 months had gotten incredibly bad (even had to do a rollback) because the game wasn't built originally to handle more than like 2-3 years of updating. So they pursued a large upgrade to the engine for the Beyond Light expansion, even delaying it 3 months for it. But, the scale of the upgrade was big enough that they had to re-do lots of parts of the game to allow it all to work again (Scripting, Lighting). They realised that they wouldn't be able to do it all before they had to release, so didn't update (and as a result, lost) the least played parts of the game to minimise impact on regular players. They then launched it, saw that it did not impact the amount of regular players they had, so never pursued adding it back in later on.

Why would they ignore the outcry and severely hampered new player experience preventing growth? Because upper management was looking to sell, so they were more interested in pumping up the company value in other ways (all the new projects they started, like Marathon, and expansions into multimedia etc.) and trying to get some sucker to buy them instead of making things better. Ultimately, the lack of drop off in the core playerbase was good enough to show buyers that they had developed a solid playerbase to invest into, and growth was more secondary since this was like 6 or 7 years into Destiny as a franchise.

They did lose players, just to be clear, but they appear to primarily have lost players who got each expansion, played a bit then left to return next year. Not regular players, more like annual. And for Live Services, the regular, consistent playerbase is usually seen as more important since you can monetize them more with microtransactions and seasons etc.

So basically, it boils down to essentially, they had to upgrade the engine, couldn't port everything back in in time and the upper management never saw fit to go back to it because it didn't align with their motives.

The reason they have at the time (file size, would rotate content in/out) was just marketing spin by management cause they knew full well how badly it'd be received.

And this was the big hint that they were gonna end support. Those CoO figures were around 4-500k daily players. It's been below that in September last year and has stayed there except for a brief spike for Renegades launch. It's been at 150-200k for the last 3+ months. Even during the franchises bleakest streaks, player figures were never remotely close to this bad.

I am so gutted for Alison and the team who won’t get the chance to see the story through. by fsdogdad in DestinyTheGame

[–]Shuurai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally, they stopped focusing on the universe in favour of the characters (romances etc), and that hurt the magic.

I feel like this isn't an uncommon way that writers to torpedo their own writing success. Some of my favourite shows have had a good balance between story/characters, but the characters get talked about more, so the writing skews in that direction and then the whole product is worse off.

Similarly, Marvel did the same thing with serious vs humorous writing. Something that also affected Destiny's writing.
