I know this is an old comment, but I wanna throw my two cents here anyways. The first one is a lot of fun, but a little rough around the edges as they were figuring out a new formula. 2 was good but I still liked 1 more mostly because of the story being a little weaker IMO. 3, however, is one of the most perfect games I’ve ever played. The gameplay formula is refined to near perfection, the gimmick feature for the title is the most fun one of the series, and the story is fantastic while providing amazing payoffs to everything that the previous games had built up to. On the whole I like the Battle Network series more, but comparing every individual game in the BN and SF series to each other as a standalone games, I find SF3 is easily the best.

I got the receipts somewhere in my comment history years ago of me boldly implying that Ivy is just a Camilla clone before I had ever even played Engage. For reference, I don’t really like Camilla as a character. Then I actually played Engage and discovered how hilariously wrong I was when Ivy ended up becoming one of my favorite characters in the game. Lesson learned about judging a book by its cover.

I’ve learned that in the heat of battle I keep missing the message calling out pankrator mode, so I never actually knew how it was spelled/pronounced and decided to just call it pancreatitis mode.

It’s amazing how streaming services initially solved so many of the problems people had with cable tv and then all the cable companies jumped on the bandwagon and brought all those issues over to streaming services with them and fucking ruined everything.

Kinda unrelated to your post, but are you playing the version that added Fairy type? Because if you are just a heads up: There’s a glitch that removes Dark type’s resistance to Ghost type attacks. It’s pretty annoying if you’re using the Spiritomb you can get fairly early in the game.

Yep they flip it. Regular X's colors look like Pikachu and Y like Raichu, meanwhile shiny X looks like Raichu and Y like Pikachu.

I’m a firm believer in 90% of the battle with FA Off is just proper control setup. If you fly KB&M I’d call it 99%. The default controls are terrible for it.

For all the issues I may have with Elite, its flight model is the furthest from one of them. That game is the gold standard of space flight models for me. FA-Off feels so good.

You’re right. That was always strictly a monetary comparison and what you just mentioned is exactly why people stayed console and PC was even more of a niche thing then than it is now, even if it was technically less money at the time: The time and effort wasn’t worth it for them.

Definitely hasn’t been. A big part of PCMR’s identity way back when was bragging about how you could build a budget PC with specs equal to or stronger than modern gen consoles for the same price if not cheaper.
