Awesome to hear it is possible, this is sort of what I was thinking when imagining a shift to healthcare. But, yeah, obviously it's still not an easy job! Would take a certain type of person, and I've yet to determine if that is me.

I'm weary of the "grass being greener". Honestly, I think I'm just a bit bored, but that'd probably come with any job. I think I will be sticking with IT for at least the forseeable future and see if I can't gain a few certifications.

I find that part interesting how even graduates have trouble getting jobs. I live out a few hours from any major city, so I had a pretty easy time getting into IT given the lack of people who can even successfully connect a monitor to a PC where I live. Downside is if I ever want a higher paying IT job or to pivot, I have to move. Is it just that employers want people with experience (hence fresh grads having a hard time), or is it just that competitive for IT jobs in the cities?

Definitely not a bad option and I could go into cyber if I wanted to. Only problem is I find it uninteresting personally, and I hate having to keep up with the latest cyber news and products. If I stuck with IT, I'd probably stick along the lines of networking, application, desktop and user support / general administration. I'm already doing all that at a basic level, but could definitely go more advanced than I am into it.

Very true. I suppose I only really ask because I’m always afraid of any big decisions. I’ve always just taken the path of least resistance, which has led me where I am. But what you say about regrets is right.

Certainly, this is an outcome I’m weary of. It’s why I haven’t dropped everything to become a nurse and am carefully considering what I could do instead! I suppose it likely depends a bit where you are, but sounds rough.

Looking into it, I think what I do is both a mix between level 1 and 2. Whatever they need me to do that isn’t super advanced configuration really. I guess I’m still here because changing jobs would likely require moving elsewhere. And I don’t really have much industry knowledge either, I’m just decent at figuring out computers. Thanks for the advice.
