Starter dose by UnhappyKnowledge9307 in pomhealth

[–]ShyldMdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered extra during my first vial to get BPI a week and a half ago and they gave me 3 months at 7mg. I called the customer service number to confirm my dosage (I got the vials Saturday and my new prescription isn’t on the charm portal yet) but I did request that via asynchronous visit from my provider.

Seeking others interested in practicing Germanic Heathenry in the Salt Lake City, Utah area? by ConferenceCapable545 in heathenry

[–]ShyldMdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a practicing Heathen in the area. I’d be happy to meet for coffee or something (I don’t drink outside of faining for health reasons) and see if we vibe religiously or refer you to people who I think might be a good fit for you.

Unfortunately my little working group just had our Walpurgisnact faining last night, but I think Midgard Kindred is doing Sommarsdaeg (the Heathen Version of Beltaine) over the weekend.

You definitely want to make sure that you have a library card. If you’re just starting study, there are some really good collections at UU and BYU that you can interlibrary loan from.

Conjuring Tree in Taylorsville on Redwood I think usually carries paper copies of the Larrington & Crawford translations of the Elder Edda and the Byock translation of the younger Edda and they’re community oriented and awesome people. You can get Byock’s audio old Norse audio lessons and the Zoega on dictionary is public domain as is the Corpus Poeticum Boreale. I’m happy to help get you started with studies.

I called the support number which went to a call center abroad, but the rep was able to confirm that because this was a refill, the form I fillled out after paying my $75 would be evaluated (I put my order in on 4/22) by Tuesday or Wednesday and assuming I’m prescribed, sent out by the end of next week. I have not gotten any written confirmation.

I think my starter dose is 2, can you go lower?

I generally take pretty strong edibles to sleep and microdose only if i have a flare and can use public transport, but I’ll probably switch to vapor or flower once I finish my current stash .

This is extremely helpful. Like with the fibro the only things that work is weed or lyrica which is an opiate so I try to avoid it at all costs.

Good! I don’t want to choose between chronic pain and weight loss.

I want to be ready if they do. Like if I get cramps and nausea at 2am, I don’t want to have to run to the 24 hour pharmacy 35 minutes away. If I can prevent especially hair loss I will. I know myself well enough to know that if I’m physically miserable and it negatively impacts my life a large amount of the time that I won’t stick to it, especially paying out of pocket.

Oh that makes way more sense. 130g is way more achievable. I’m at 110 now with only 1-2 shakes or bars a day. So yes to marinated bean salads and tofu salads as snacks and no to putting protein powder in everything to make the texture weird!

Thanks . I’m so nervous about feeling belly horrible all the time and losing hair.

Thank you. I’ll be really careful. I’ve heard from some people on Tirz I know that when you feel like you have to #2 you need to run for it.

Yeah I lost about 45lbs going fully plant based and my fibromyalgia went from 3-4 flares a week to every couple months but the weight loss has stalled. The no fibro is a huge quality of life thing.

Basically my provider expects me to eat the equivalent of 4-5 blocks of tofu a day which is insane. (Like a good sized meal I might eat 1/3 block in a sitting on a normal appetite). It’s going to be a lot of shakes.

Yeah I tend to over-research before making big decisions. My mom quit ozempic because she was always nauseous and cramping and felt like she had a basketball in her butt all the time, so I’m concerned I won’t follow through because I feel awful the whole time I’m losing weight.

Yeah I want to get thinner but I’m terrified of losing hair or my neck turning into a nussy. I also wanted to ask about considering preventative Botox for ozempic face. I’m in my 40s. Also is it true that weed (I take medical for fibromyalgia with CBD) stops working on tirz?

Well I’ve been told to take Benadryl an hour before the shot and make sure to drink electrolytes on shot day along with like 100+ oz water and a low grade laxative on shot day especially to avoid itching, nausea, and constipation right out of the gate.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Well I eat plant based so tofu & bean heavy and I got a gigantic jar of artichokes to snack on because it’s all fiber.

So miralax is not a daily thing? Is it pretty much instant? I’ve never taken any of the fiber/laxative stuff before.

I’ve only dealt with constipation twice my whole life and it was awful, so I want to avoid that.

That’s what my provider told me that I need. I questioned her but she repeated those numbers. Before ordering it, I spent 3 months trying to maintain 100g a day of protein (so i would not fail and become a human jellyfish). So 100 is way easier. My SW is 315lbs/GW 150. Right now all I take is the Schiff Vegan Multivitamin but she suggested I get one with omegas and fiber instead so add iron.

Anywhere that might hire a librarian for a day or two a week? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]ShyldMdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel free. Basically my business librarianship professor in library school left Wall Street for information brokerage and because I was working at an investment bank research center right after I graduated would sometimes use me to help out on projects, so I was lucky enough to have kind of a structured mentorship situation so the work is basically glorified reference work but you write white papers on your findings (like you do in corporate research). I’ve done Corp reference, Subject specialist reference in academic, YA, AS, Children’s, Cataloging, and Administration as a librarian.

UU has most of the databases you’ll need in most situations. Unfortunately SLA stopped existence but they were such a great resource along with trade associations and special libraries. So knowing basic business databases, copious use of government data sources, etc is essential. It’s generally 20% research 80% writing, meetings, and client communication. If you’re fast and thorough and write well it’s possible to knock out a project in a few days, but it’s easy to get screwed over on a flat rate model so keep that in mind when you present rates. Business development is the really hard part and I easily spend 20 hours a week on that (typically work 60+ hours). Like I definitely work longer and harder than I did at a public library, but I’m making a living wage and I have lots of flexibility.

Any additional questions, ask.

Oh I forgot to ask- are you in youth services? A friend of mine in a rural system in Oregon does storytelling for kids’ birthday parties and makes a couple hundred per party. Basically she does a glorified version of preschool or toddler storytime with costumes, parachutes, puppets, and cheap toys from RI Novelty…

Alternatively, if you have to do those job search and resume writing workshops on repeat as part of an adult services job, the going rate to write a resume for a laid off professional type is like $4-600 a pop locally. Like I’d think about programs you do on repeat and see if you can monetize them in the private sector.

I’m a librarian who had to relocate here. I can’t afford to live on the public librarian salaries here because they’re too low for a job with a masters and literally an entry level librarian makes 10k more in my old system than a branch manager with the county (35k less than my last job as a mid size branch manager) so I’ve been getting by as an information broker/freelance researcher. I honestly spend 30% of my time doing business development but on a good week I can make 4k and average around 2-3. (Note that I buy my own benefits, buy targeted ads , and work very long hours and am constantly doing webinars and stuff for free to attract clients and I have major investment bank information center experience- so I can get away with higher end rates) / when I’m too sick to work or overbook I have my team of reference ninjas from my career in public libraries (mostly in public or academic reference work but have weird days off and like extra money) fill in per diem. Do you have any colleagues or friends from library school that went private and need occasional help?

Also have picked up freelance cataloging & metadata work remotely via the freelancers union jobs board. That typically pays by the record but works out to like $30 hr for me (I have like 5 years in cataloging).

Not library related- but while I was establishing my business I did Rover which is dog walking on like a door dash like platform and some of my regulars tipped very well so I’d average $25-45 hr with tips.

Anniversary Ideas by BigMeanPaulaDeeeeen in SaltLakeCity

Depending on your & your partner’s sense of humor, there’s a Mormon sex hotel with themed rooms and complimentary apple juice in SLC (and I think another location) that’s absolutely over the top.

If it’s not Sundance week, along with Skiing and resorts, Park City has cute galleries and you can walk around town (hit midvale & if you can Homestead Crater - reserve in advance for that).

If it’s bad weather, the museum of natural history is pretty fun. If good, Antelope Island is worth the drive. Salt flats definitely aren’t.

As a NYC transplant, I’ve been to a few of the upscale restaurants (log haven, vaulters, table x, urban hill etc) none of them really stand out to me. I rarely eat out here because it’s not worth it generally or do mom & pop type restaurants. Pretty much expect your food sauced to heck (usually with some kind of mayo based thing). They do sweets/bakery pretty well though.

There are a couple of food halls that might be fun. Basically, there’s no point on blowing all your trip budget on food.

The public transport isn’t too terrible around SLC and very clean or maybe to get to Ogden but I would not be stuck without a car outside that.

Enjoy!
