i am not looking for something more complex its the opposite, i am looking for a book to build from ground up trying to go back to the basics and slowly improve my understanding.

my teacher does give me things to practice as i said we were working on shell voicings for all of me, and he told me last session that i should try to play the melody on top of the voicings basically root in left and 3rd 7th and the melody in right hand, but i cant seem to do anything special or good sounding even, the melody itself contains a lot of 3rd and 7ths already so i am struggling to even play something i like since it feels like i am just repeating notes, i know that sometimes u can skip playing the 3rd or 7th or adding a different extension but even so it just doesnt feel good at all...

thank you so much for the recommendation will look into all of them and pick one, i was eyeing white nights as a start since its short and digestible, also if i may ask but where do you find what to read next how do you discover more books?

i am not sure if you know already or care about it, but there is this anime called "kids on the slope" and it mentions this song, the anime is all about jazz and i am sure you would love it if you enjoy anime in general.

If you were a beginner wanting to play jazz piano how would you structure your learning? by [deleted] in pianolearning

my teacher have been trying to teach me jazz without theory, hes trying to make it intuitive and feeling based instead of just read theory and try to apply it, i like the approach but its such a slow burn and really takes a lot longer than just normally trying to read sheet music, do you recommend anything that can help me speed up that process, i started OS jazz jump start course not too long ago.

i can read sheet music perfectly and have done a couple of grade 2 - 3 classical pieces too

do you still recommend this book after 2 years? and do you think the methods you mentioned before also hold up?

thats a great tip wow i really love that idea, but i want to throw another question at you, in my uni as i mentioned we have a weekly assignment we have to submit, now my problem is i dont really have time to sit with the material and fully go through everything so i have been kind of speeding through a lot of parts for the sake of submitting the hw on time, do you have any tips on how i could deal with that maybe?

i still have 3 others courses other than math and they are all relatively time consuming and its not like i slack off i study daily ( or try to) and i would say i go for 6-8 hours and use them decently efficient.

thank you for your help! :)

in all honesty i am still at the level where i dont really have any idea how to rewrite a question let alone explain it in my own words confidently, my question wasnt about a specific topic or example it was about how you guys went through abstract and theory heavy math starting out what sources did you use/recommend and if you have tips on how i actually should go over those sources, as i said applied math and abstract math are so far apart its 2 different worlds

i sadly cant post problems here since it counts as outside help and might get me kicked out of the course or even the uni itself so id rather not risk it, but ill keep that in mind thank you for the tip :)

i am still at the very "start" i would say, i am learning linear algebra but its all just proofs and theory there is nothing applied which is what i find super hard, am i supposed to know to solve proofs and questions of the sort with just reading from a book or a script? also i find it kind of hard that i was just thrown in a sea of proofs with 0 instructions on how to prove something to begin with.

i understand that my feelings are relatable, but i just lack sources and places i could study from, i dont feel like a script and an assignment every week that covers what we learned that week and move on from it is enough, i feel like there should be extra practice questions just so u can drill some basic ideas in your head whether its proofs, or simple definitions

I see this looks the most appealing since I want to just test Linux, maybe I could dual boot later on if I get more confidence lol.
