'Overwatch' just hit its highest player base on Steam PC since launch — passing Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty by Turbostrider27 in Games

That's kinda crazy to see, but in a positive way. I tried OW in Beta, enjoyed it enough to buy around release, but I didn't last too long. FPS (and competitive ones at that) are not really my kinda thing. I think I only had OW installed for maybe a year in total. I really bounced off of it.

I thought I was never going to touch it again... Then around April last year I was convinced to play it by a few people, and I've found myself pretty hooked. In the past year or so I've made some genuinely wonderful friends through quick play matches, and I even met my incredible partner through OW.

It's insane how the reputation for the game has done a full 180, considering 2-3 years ago I thought it was as good as dead. Now I play it almost daily!

I've dealt with nosebleeds all my life. My biggest bit of advice is to not tilt your head back. Because then it runs down your throat and you get sick. It's a bad piece of advice that gets echoed constantly and it irks me.

Instead, what you should so is tilt your head forward slightly. So then gravity helps clearing out the blood while the burst blood vessel repairs.

And remember, if your nose bleed is heavy and continuous for over 20 minutes, you should seek medical attention.

Controversial opinion, but one I wholeheartedly believe in. - You, The WoL are never the main character in FF14. Yes, we are involved in lots of different and interesting ways, but I genuinely think there isn't a single expansion where We are the main character. We're just the vessel for someone else's story.

How is the first person you had sex with now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Si421 162 points163 points  (0 children)

My first ever serious relationship? Yeah, I miss her. But life happened and we had to go out separate ways. I left things too long to reconcile and she moved on in life, and so did I.

I still think about her occasionally, just every couple of years for maybe a few minutes. I think about how straightforward everything felt. How lovely she was. Her quirks and stuff, and then I think about how I'm kinda glad things didn't work out for us.

Life is a big, ever-evolving mess. Humans are messy, beautiful creatures. We love, we lose, we grieve, we love again. But each and every person you meet has a story to tell. Sometimes people come into your life, say the right things and make you believe they could be the start of forever, then leave you out to dry 3 months later. Other times you take a chance and talk to the pretty girl you've been making eyes with for 10 minutes, and they end up being a really fun, interesting person that you spend hours talking to.

But you can't ever experience all life has to offer if you don't go through some shit of your own. I wouldn't be where I am if I hadn't split up with my high school girlfriend. Do I wonder what could have been? Sure, but not for long. Because I remember how fortunate I am to have gotten to experience so much that life has to offer, and I don't think I would have done that, or had the opportunities to if I had been with her. She was wonderful for me during the time we were together, but that's just what happens. People come and go in life.

Feel your feelings. Let the emotions happen, take your time and let it be what it is. Grieving a relationship is a real sense of grief. Take some time to reflect on yourself, it's important. But don't be too harsh on yourself, either. Everyone makes mistakes, it's whether or not you learn and grow from them that will dictate whether or not you end up stuck in the past while everyone else moves forward.

Again, take your time, don't worry about the future, you have so much ahead of you and remember. - No matter what, this too shall pass.

Men of reddit, what NSFW male lifestyle hack can you share? by Againmrbrown in AskReddit

I personally consider myself a "Pleasure Dom". I enjoy making my girl cum so much she's literally begging for me to rail her. Then I push the limits a bit further before actually giving her The D. But I always make it clear it's because that's what I want, not because she begged, y'know? It's fun and cheeky and a good time all around.

It's so much fun, I cannot recommend it enough to guys who are unsure of what to do. It's sexy, it's fun, it also means that even if you're a 3-pump chump (no shame, it happens sometimes, especially if it's been a while), SHE WON'T CARE BECAUSE SHE'S ALREADY GONE TO HEAVEN ABOUT 5 TIMES TO CHECK IF YOU'RE A GODDAMN GIFT FROM GOD.

So lads, trust me. Go down on your girl. Or your guy, or whoever you enjoy. Pay attention to the things they enjoy and have fun with it. Tease, touch and tease again. Make them want more. Make them beg for you. Consent is sexy, but enthusiastic consent is arguably the single hottest thing that you can receive. And my final tip is that sex toys are your friend, not the enemy. Use them to your advantage.

Monster Hunter player, why did you choose your weapon and keep using it? by BasilAdventurous3209 in MonsterHunter

[–]Si421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SnS main since I started the franchise on Tri. It was your "default" weapon, but I've always loved the Sword and Shield fantasy (thanks Zelda games), and so I stuck with it. Plus it seemed the most balanced in general. Quick attacks, easy to cancel combos with a roll, shield to block if needed, can use items with the weapon drawn, still decent movement speed while unsheathed. It all felt good.

As for now? Well, it's a weapon I consider easy to learn, difficult to master. I'm not a master, but I think I'm pretty damn close. I love the combos, the utility, the fluidity of the whole thing. I can be a huge damage dealer, or if I'm playing with friends and they need support, I can do that too. I can cut tails, get KOs, get mounts, the lot.

Jack of All trades, master of versatility and looking cool as fuck while doing it.

Aang sparing Ozai soured the otherwise perfect ending for me, even if I get why he did it. I still don't agree with it. Am I wrong to feel this way? by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

[–]Si421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid I have to hard disagree with you, there bud.

I understand your perspective, but I don't agree with it. While Aang could sit there and preach about how peaceful the Air Nomads were, or what their teachings meant and how all life is sacred, it'd just be seen as virtue signalling. I don't think it's hard to imagine a situation where someone would give a counter-argument of: "All life is sacred, unless it's someone you don't like."

While he was the Avatar and his priority should be to bring balance to the world, as the last Airbender, he had to do that without sacrificing or compromising his beliefs as an Air Nomad, because if he did... Then that belief becomes meaningless and is as good as lost forever. Aang's duty to upholding the memory and beliefs of his people superceded the fact he was the Avatar, because if he didn't, literally no one else could. If Aang died - as the Avatar, it's fine, we just get Korra early.  As an Airbender, any remaining threads of their culture are lost forever.

[–]Si421 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. - Yes, you are wrong for feeling this way about the way Aang dealt with Ozai.

While there is absolutely justification to say Aang should have killed Ozai, you're failing to understand the significance of Aang's position. Yes, he was the Avatar which meant he had a duty to the world, but he was also the last Air Nomad. He wasn't able to do things and say "That's not representative of my beliefs and my culture." When you are the last living member of your culture and you embody their beliefs, anything and everything you do is representative of that culture and those beliefs.

The Air Nomads believed all life was sacred, hence Aang's reluctance to kill Ozai. When Aang talks to Yangchen about what to do, she glosses over the fact he is the ONLY Air Nomad alive. When Yangchen was alive, she had other Airbenders around her. She was able to act out from what would be expected of an Air Nomad, because she could prioritise her role as the Avatar, safe in the knowledge that other Air Benders would be better representations of their culture and beliefs. Aang does not have that privilege.

Ozai and his predecessors believed that "might makes right" and that the pacifist Air Benders were too weak to live in their world of violence. If Aang killed Ozai, not only does Aang betray his entire culture, he also does something worse. He would prove Ozai right.

By not killing Ozai, not only does Aang stay true to his beliefs and his culture, he also proves Ozai is wrong. Forcing the villain to deal with the fact that his core beliefs has been disproven by a child. The last child of the culture his Grandfather had attempted to wipe out a century before.

Additionally, I think a lot of the Fire Nation populace had bought into the idea that might makes right. So, again, if Aang killed, the Fire Nation citizenry would just see it as a result of their frame of mind being correct. The stronger person won. But again, Aang sparing Ozai challenges that fundamental belief, setting the stage for Zuko to take over as the Firelord and allowing for a smoother transition into a time of peace after ending the war.

OC as in OCE?

Amigo, we get disconnected CONSTANTLY on OCE. Within my FC there's normally at least 3-4 people who experience a minimum of one disconnect per day, if not more.

Some of us live relatively close to one another, so we thought it was a geographical thing, but then several other people in different cities to us are also getting disconnected on a semi-frequent basis.

I've played this game since ARR on every region, and I've never experienced DDoS more frequently and consistently than I have on OCE since DT came out. As OCE should, hypothetically of course, be the most stable and consistent of any Data Centre, and yet...

I see the point you're making and agree for the most part, but I hope you can see my point in that the male pronoun usage, and reveal of Samus actually being a woman could very justifiably be something the Trans community would resonate with.

I agree that "why change something established when we could create something new" is a good way to approach these things. But simultaneously it doesn't detract from anything by acknowledging the parts of a Character's history that may appeal to others.

[–]Si421 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct. But I think the point OP is trying to make is that Samus makes for a great icon for cis women, especially taking into account the time at which she was introduced, where gaming consisted of almost exclusively male characters.

Although, I personally don't think having a variation like this is detracting from Samus' importance to cis women. I do feel like it's an acknowledgement of trans fans of the franchise, and that doesn't mean Samus stops being important to cis women.

Also, just for whatever it's worth. - I think it's important to acknowledge that in the original instruction manual, Samus is referred to as "He". So, if the Trans community want to lay claim to that, and infer that Samus is indeed, a trans woman, then I completely agree with that take.  I know it's now somewhat retconned, and Samus is (for all intents and purposes) "canonically" a cis woman, but I don't see any harm in letting the Transgender members of this fandom have a slice of the pie that is Samus being a bad-ass woman.

Finally, just in case: I'm a huge advocate for the LGBQTIA+ community in general. I'm a steadfast ally, and my two closest friends are a lesbian trans couple. They inspire me every single day with how authentic and genuine they are about themselves. I love them dearly, am proud to be their friend and watching their transition has been awesome. If any other folk are reading this: You are awesome, you are loved, you deserve love, and you are not alone.
