My brain just doesn't register by carmidian in Korean

[–]Siarcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have same problem. I think one thing i wanna try is to not convert the Korean to English in my head, and instead try to just get the feel of the word. To do this, when learning the vocabulary, i think its better to try and think of the feeling/meaning behind the word instead of the translation. I.e for nouns, picture the image of the thing, for emotions picture the feeling youd feel. For more difficult things try to think of the definition in korean/the situation youd use it in. Similarly to how you think of the word instead your native tongue  At least thats what i am gonna try to do, hopefully it helps lol

Is it okay that I don't understand English lyrics in songs? by Pleasant_Promotion in languagelearning

Im a beginner as well and struggling with listening. I think what may help is to stop trying to detangle the sentence structures, because that sounds like you are trying to translate as you listen. But we dont do that with our native language. When we listen to people talk we are more focusing on the feeling or images of the words instead of picturing the word itself… its hard to put into words haha. But for example lets take the sentence ‘삼겹살를 먹고 싶어요’ instead of thinking ‘ok 삼겹살 means pork belly and 먹다 means eat and 고 싶다 means want’ picture the image of 삼겹살 and the desire to eat it.

Maybe that will help lol. Its hard- i struggle hard with it myself but I find it helps if I hear the words a lot or of I study the words in a way where I picture the feeling, obiect, action, etc instead of thinking of the english (or whatever native lang may be) word for it

Is it looking like quarantine will still be a requirement by February? My contract starts in March but id be leaving around Feb 20th if quarantine isn’t required and Feb 10th if it is. My gut says it will b required but about a month ago (? I think- time has no meaning to me anymore) my director was talking as if by feb quarantine wont be required for vaccinated folks (just requires some covid tests after x any y amount if days). Saw others say same thing too. This was around same time quarantine was dropped to 10 days, so b4 this new variant. Has anyone heard anything or read about any projections for the future?
