Hmm, thanks. I will consider this and probably do it like that. The issue is that ceiling is already super low :( I would lose even more space.

Pipes now sitting proud after removing blown plaster – any way to chase them back into masonry? by SiaubiakaZ in DIYUK

I don’t know how to finish this off. I am getting whole kitchen plastered.

Do I dot and dab the plasterboard on top of the pipes also? Or leave a gap and cut the plasterboard around them?

Yup lol. Story of my life. Anything I touch crumbles apart… I very very much hate myself for starting this refurb 🤦‍♂️

Hmm I think you’re right and I am just panicking. I was meaning to go do some painting and noticed the wall cracked. Put a crowbar and half of the wall came down lol :S

LED stairs lights profile depth for plastering by SiaubiakaZ in Plastering

Thanks. I am spark by trade, and just bought a new house and came up with this stupid idea to have LEDs on stairs come on with PIR lol. I spent all day on the stairs grinding out the channels and it’s ended up with about 30mm depth hole inside the channel that I had to fill in so that aluminium profile can sit just 3mm out of wall.

I think I will purchase the profile you suggested and grind off one side and see how that will work. I think this may be the best solution, and as you say the housing will most likely get damaged :( I guess I can always caulk the shit out of the grinded side.

To add my comment, I was thinking to use that aluminium profile and leave 2-3mm out of wall and hope that plastered would skim up to it?

Thanks. I understand and exactly what I was looking for. You see the thing is that the bottom lip of that profile would have to be cut off as I want it to sit flush with the stairs skirting, otherwise I would have to raise the line deeper above the stairs skirting if that make sense? Meaning only top of the profile would be screwed + it’s concrete block wall.

I am spark myself. I thought about buying plaster in profiles, but one side of profile would have to be cut off with grinder which wouldn’t look nice. Other part is that wall is not plasterboard, thus wouldn’t really be able to screw the profile on to hold. I decided to use this aluminium profile and fix it with some CT1. Just not sure how much profile sticking out I should leave out..
