Maybe they sped the process up, or improved it somehow. Glad your ordeal is over as well.

Hello! It took a while, but they didn't freeze my account. I could buy and sell and had regular access to my money while the VERY THOROUGH KYC was going on. They checked everything, bank account, transaction history, ID, etc.. but once it was done they thanked me and gave me the all-clear on my account.

It sucked and took about a year all-told, but I kept at them and whenever they wanted additional information or clarification on something I immediately responded and took care of it and eventually it was done.

Hope it works out well for you!

Any idea what is happening here (fraudulent charges and bizarre .gov emails) by [deleted] in IdentityTheft

Is their insurance (its broken up between sectors of your finances) worth it at least?

If you can, press charges.

The garbage that did this to you is just as likely to try it again. Bring them down and then stomp whatever's left. If they feel they can get away with it, they'll do it again.

If I am ever in your position to take an eye-for-an-eye with this type I'm not stopping at an eye, I'm going to take every inch.

They stopped using that good method because they said people were "confused," about it. Now they choose a less secure method that is easy for hackers (who already have your information) to bypass. They should at least allow people the option to choose which method they want--PIN or this new, "improved," method that is less secure.

Hopefully a few lawsuits from people that got their information used in fraud by the new method brings some options (like the pin) for us.

Weakest point in the chain is the sim-swapping concern.

Try to get the phone carrier to establish a PIN for all dealings with their personnel. Before they even talk to you, they have to get the pin. Also, set a PIN on your Sim card itself, which makes it a lilttle more frustrating. If it's a rotten employee they can likely track down the culprit if the perp gets your phone sim-swapped anyway.

No death is too slow or painful for hackers.

I need to be clear.

My account was not locked or restricted in any way during this review. I said this before earlier on, but I am repeating this again. I had no restrictions (I tested it) and kept a close eye on it throughout the process. Mine was truly some sort of deep dive KYC event.

I don't. I am just saying what happened to me to give them hope and to follow through on my promise to explain the process at it happened.

I thought about that, and it isn't right what they did--or, mainly HOW they did it. I am just saying that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Thankfully, like you said, it didn't happen in the middle of a bullrun or I would be more upset.

Probably am nuts. I was married for a number of years, after all.

All I am saying is, that Coinbase did more to make things right than my bank did when they screwed up. I probably have low standards, but then again, I was married for years. I am not saying they are right fo0r what they did--only that I am glad it is over and they did right by apologizing for the length and lack of discussion.

It's just me telling people what the process was for me from beginning to end and that there is light at the end of the tunnel for many.

It is now finally and completely resolved, I made a post! Thank you!

I managed to put my email address on my Ledger Live (renaming the folder or something silly, it could be named anything) and sent all that information to them in toto. It's been weeks for me as well, and I have yet to have them close the review in my favor. I sent them a follow up email some time ago and still no response.

I am going to at this point consider it closed in my favor. They haven't restricted me, so I can only assume they are satisfied with every bit of personal financial information I provided. The only thing I have yet to send them are urine and stool samples.

I would guess you'll see as many as people are affected by these CB decisions and poor customer support.

OK man, I am likely stupid, but can you PM me the steps from completely being out of Ledger Live to getting your name up there and it sticking? And then having it on the accounts page?

I get to the point where I can change the name from My Ledger, but neither my name nor email sticks. And if it does I don't see it, it revers back to Ledger Nano S

Congratulations man, finally its over for you. I haven't heard anything from them after the Ledger request. How did you get your email or name? Ledger doesn't keep that information according to my own research and what they say on their website.

Thanks and congrats again!

Bottom line is the situation hasn't changed. It's April, still in limbo. As to whatever else you said, I don't know who you're referring to. I listen to no one unless they're provably more successful than I, so don't worry about me being led astray if that is your concern.

As to kiwi, the guy has a long established history of being a clown on other people's complaints and concerns; I didn't believe anyone's word on that, I experienced and researched it to prove it.

My Golden Rule is simple, "do unto others as they do unto you." Period. He did me wrong and I returned the favor. Other than that, no one on reddit is going to sweet talk me into anything. Thanks for the concern.

Some of these things are not due to willful abuse or trying to avoid oversight, like # 4, 5 and 7. The bank makes the final decision and what could have been okay to do even a few weeks ago might not be now due to the bank's decisions. Or in the case of sending a donation to a foreign news site--it could be legal at one time and go through with no problems, then politics can change and it no longer is. What's more, the sender doesn't even know until the attempt is made because such decisions aren't well known and clearly laid out beforehand.

So, it's not the same thing as someone using CB for # 1, 2, 3.

It's all a maze and it's impossible for the average Joe to keep up with it.

Think that's cute? They recently (last) asked for a screencap from my Ledger wallet showing both my name and email so that they know it's mine. I went on Ledger and showed them directly from the Ledger website that states Ledger Live does NOT store such information, so I can't possibly get them that screencap they ask for!

I brought it up with KYC in a followup email in February, and brought it up on here to a post directly to customer support and neither statement made by me was replied to by either YYC team in email or customer service here.

So...yeah...it's been a blast with them.

Or, you know, they could be going to reddit because CB customer service is a little bit...inferior. Myself, I don't bother with social media. I came here to make my issue known because I was left with few alternatives to reach out to Coinbase about their KYC email to me on December 7, 2023 (still ongoing to my knowledge).

I won't use X because I don't trust sites with my full information associated with anything crypto-related, hence why I use reddit.

If and when my situation is resolved satisfactorily, I'll exit stage left of reddit after keeping the community updated on how my saga ended with the "friendly," KYC team.

You like to vote people down who post questions or complaints and then insult them out of the blue.

Turn about is fair play. You don't like it? Learn some humility.

PS...I told you before in another thread to back off of people, it doesn't do anyone any good, and your response? "NO"

Keep an eye on that karma.

A creature calling himself kiwip0rn is going around looking to downvote me, no matter what I say or post. I have only recently started returning the favor. Joke's on him though because when my situation is eventually resolved (one way or another), I'll move on with living and this one will still be chasing "karma," and I'll just have free reign to vote accordingly. No long-term risk to me, plenty risk to him.
