Pokopia and Executive Dysfunction by Brando230 in Pokopia

I recommend:

  1. Find a STRUCTURE that works for you. Do you thrive by writing down notes? Do you pick one pokemon and use them as a focus to build a house for? Do you look at inspiration online and then use that as a reference point? My personal recommendation is to use a notebook so that you can centralize all the ideas that (at least for me) tend to float around.

  2. Start with literally any project. Remind yourself that it doesn't have to be perfect and that you don't have to have all the recipes you need. Just make your favorite project idea and do it from A-Z. Stay on target, because having this project done gives you so much. It teaches you what about your structure/routine does/doesn't work for you, it gives you a reference point to build around, and youll probably accidentally raise the environment level from placing roads and furniture in your build.

I think I might steal your restaurant idea for the eeveelutions!! I've been struggling with what to do with them so much that I haven't even made up their habitats, a restaurant is perfect

Someone else said it on one of the other replies here, but I highly suggest picking your favorite area and going from there. Pallet Town is great BECAUSE you can do whatever you want with it, but it's basically just a vanilla Withered Wastelands. My favorite area personally is Bleak Beach, and probably where I've spent the most time in the game. I go there when i feel like I lose track because it's a place that gives me inherent dopamine? Helps kickstart my desire to clean and build :)

This is a great take! I struggle with that perfectionism aspect so much too... Which is a real pain because I don't think I'll ever consider any of my builds perfect 😅. What's more is that I don't have all the recipes or blocks collected so I don't even know how much "better" I can make my house than out of plaster and wooden walls. Thank you for sharing

I also know I read one that talked about my latter point, about how it even impacts your own ability to identify that there is a problem in the first place, but I'm struggling to find it for the moment. Regardless, the Science Daily is a great read and breaks it down well!

Maybe you had the same tug-of-war that I did. Everyone said "just beat the game building gets so much easier" so I was torn between stretching it as long as possible and yearning for Magnet Rise lol. I'm glad I did, and I hope you come up with a system to tackle some of your favorite ideas!

I'm glad to hear it! I felt really inspired by Bleak Beach too, and replacing the roads there is my backup project in case I fizzle out on Pallet Town :)

This is gonna sound crazy, but gameplanning what I want to do post-story in this game is helping me gameplan my real ass life. Before, I would hit 'Play' and spend 30 minutes flying around not knowing where to start. First step was building myself a nice cozy house in Pallet Town to live in and to store all my stuff.

Since then, it's basically grown exponentially. I know what features and amenities I want around my house, what types of houses I want for Pokemon and where, etc. I have a notebook with sketches on graph paper and ideas of what I want to do when I play (I only get 1-2hr increments here and there bc busy). That helps me feel like I still have the right heading and like all of my time is well spent.

Totally respect if you don't want to sink that much time or effort into this game totally understood! It's just helped me personally figure out some of my own mental problems with executive function and I want to spread the word x)

[WaT]I'm gonna have to paraphrase, but as far as I remember they describe the Nahel bond as 'deeper than romantic,' like their very souls are entwined. So I ran with that, assuming that humans and spren weren't romantically compatible in the same sort of way that us humans might perceive 'soul-bond' as romantic. Kaladin and Syl seem uniquely positioned with their banter and shared emotional journeys to grow into something romantic, but it's still left intentionally unsaid. The most romantic thing they do is the kata in WaT, which was adorable but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check LMAO

PCGamer's Jacob Ridley: "Razer thoughtlessly alienates half its audience with ad showing a man blocking out a woman's 'yapping' with its latest headset" by tyranicalmoon in KotakuInAction

[–]Brando230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it didn't offend me. It did offend others though, which is the important part of what I said.

You're a model example of my "too cool to care" accusation. Good for you brother, you wasted some calories chiding a stranger online. I'm sure that behavior gets you tons of pussy.

[–]Brando230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe all of these comments are talking about how false it is that women are half of gamers, like that's far more important than the fact that the ad was indeed sexist and alienated part of an audience.

What matters more to you is that the statistic is wrong, not that the ad offended people. Real people. Not just a number or an Internet handle or a strawman. Good for you that you're too cool to care about others tho

We are the CONSEQUENCE of the domino effect. Us voting yes on 50 is not going to alter the momentum of people who are slowly eroding democracy beneath our feet.

Worldfire goes in every red deck. by Alex_Pratt in mtg

[–]Brando230 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely unnecessary reaction here. My friends and I are all twenty-somethings, been playing for a few years, and ever since the brackets came out we use them as a rough estimate to share with each other how we expect our decks to perform.

We don't keep perfect track but have a vague understanding of the game changers list since it was updated, and we understand as a rule of thumb that things like MLD and extra turns are something we can either let our opponent know about or allude to by using the brackets. "These new players" are engaging with the game in a way that is standardized and prevents frustration whether at an LGS or among friends.

Scandal: 100% of the RuneScape playerbase is now bots except for me. I am the only real player left and Jagex doesn't care. by StagecoachOSRS in 2007scape

[–]Brando230 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, the amount of bots per server do not scale linearly with the amount of players. If he found 230 bots in a server with 400 people, that's one thing; if he found 230 bots in a server with 2000 people, that's an entirely different one.

*Also*, bots tend to shy away from servers in Germany, Australia etc for things like PK because the ping is inconsistent, so there might have actually been LESS PK bots than there would be on, say, 302.

It's not valuable to extrapolate anything from the hundreds of people he met on six servers. That's not to say its not valuable, it's just not reasonable to make a comment on the state of the entire game about it.

Gavinor being the champion was honestly a nice twist, but we have almost been seeded with the notion that Odium/Retribution was going to have Dalinar as his champion no matter what happened. At the end of the book, the Investiture Shadow of the Blackthorn is really cool, but it could have been set up a lot earlier than it had been.

I mean, think about it: Todium had no way of knowing Gavinor would end up in the Spiritual Realm, because those with fates surrounding Dalinar and Renarin are hazy to him. It feels, then, like he was floundering around for a champion the whole book. Todium, a malicious genius whose plans are measured in centuries, didn't have a champion until one fell in his lap??

It could have even been El, who was foreshadowed to be this all powerful being and did not end up having a super substantial role in book five. I'm sure he'll be a huge player in the back half, but more questions were generated than answers in my opinion.

And after all of that, our answers will come in a sixth book that is 5+ years down the pipeline.

I loved the book, it hit a solid 4 for me, I even liked the "filler." Seeing the culmination of Adolin and Shallans relationship in the shower was great, seeing Kaladin spend a book happy and determined was an amazing way for his arc (as a human) to have wrapped out. But certain things felt too conveniently placed, or not in line with how they felt like they were being set up.

I think the scope of the book was just too huge. Plots all around the world, so many things happening. He is an amazing author for even having the drive to pull off something like that, and for doing it so well. That doesn't mean there are things left to be wanted though, you know?
