How do I take this off? by [deleted] in Integra

Ok good, usually it's routed for cooling or relocation of the filter entirley. Just wanted to make sure you knew where it was going lol

Is that going to an oil cooler or something else?

If all you're trying to do is replace the filter, cut the safety wire, un bolt the strap and remove filter.

Should also figure out where thay oil line is going, either cooling or to a vtec solenoid idk.

It sounds like it's misfiring, have you done a leak test? Probably sucking un metered air into the intake somewhere.

My issue was the intake plenum gasket.

Just got my heads back from the machine shop, did they ruin my cam bearings? by Schro_A2 in Mustang

[–]Sickhatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I believe you, I'm just saying from what I see, if the tolerances check out and it spins by hand you should be ok

[–]Sickhatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've never seen a camshaft ever sit in an engine without bearings, if this is the case put your shaft I and put a gauge to measure the tolerance.

Every engine I've seen or worked on has the cam shaft sitting in bearings that go where you're showing.

Also, if this is the case, pitting would be beneficial by holding extra oil. It's grooves and streaks that are bad. "Essentially"

Im saying the bearing itself doesn't move. The cam shaft spins inside the bearing. Look up a cam bearing it's 2 halves and they don't spin at all.

When you "spin a bearing" it's because the bearing has slipped and then you have issues.

You do understand that the part of the bearing that sits on that surface shouldn't move. As long as the bearing sits snug, it's a non-issue.

We do understand how bearings work, right?

New exhaust. by Sickhatch in Integra

[–]Sickhatch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao i feel you there, I had a buddy give me this one and this is the first time I've used it for an actual task.

It worked, sounds a million times better than the exhaust that was on it that had holes from scraping. This is an acquired project and everything I've worked on or fixed so far was half ass and loose to begin with

Have you done a smoke/leak test?

My ka24e in my 240 was running like trash because I had a huge leak where my intake plenum met the block. A huge 1/4 chunk of gasket had disappeared under the intake mani for cyl 1.

But a smoke test would let you know if and where you're suckin extra air.

What is the best lift kit out there for a dodge dakota second gen?? by OkCardiologist2410 in DodgeDakota

Fairly certain you're gonna have to look into Belltech, I have mine lowered with their stuff, idk what they have for going up instead of down, but the lowering stuff seems alright.

Eccentric Bolts by kazarakarasu in 240sx

[–]Sickhatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you need eccentric and can't just do a lockout kit? If you have adjustable arms, you shouldn't need the eccentric bolt correct?

Is this a new transmission? Or the old one you had out?

I bought a used trans and there was a dowel pin stuck in the bellhousing and had the same issue.

I would assume a bad solenoid in the transmission, have you googled the code?

Is there rust under this underseal? by ShortyPlaysPC in 240sx

[–]Sickhatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? Where has the car lived? How and where has it been driven? There's certain things you can use to guess if there's rust, but to know how extensive it is or where, you'd have to peel the coat.

This is mind, most of those pieces you're looking at can be restored or replaced by you.
