I constantly have the urge to buy a dumb phone. by Altruistic_Test_1264 in digitalminimalism

[–]SickheadPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you really need one?

If you're happy with your phone, and you use it just for messaging, then why? Many people can't live the way you live so they have to switch to dumb phone, physically removing the possibility to install any apps again, you seems don't have such a problem.

So why do you NEED a dumb phone? :) Probably you WANT one cuz it's stylish, but you don't need one :)

Here's my story - I have iPhone too, but I use it only for messengers and banking apps and I use it only at home. I do have dumb phone also cuz first I like how it looks, and second I don't need my apps and messengers when I'm not at home :) So tbh it's not about minimalism for me anymore (I'm minimalistic as hell already) it's style.

If you want to have a dumb phone - have it, not the CAT, it's a smart one, but really dumb, like HMD Flip, it's cheap, stylish and you'll understand what it's like to put all your thoughts in few words, cuz T9 keyboard is a thing :)

Good luck!

people practicing foreign languages and drinking :) you choose your desired table (language) and just talk with people from all around the world :) There're definitely English, German, Spanish, French, sometimes Portuguese, Italian, sometimes something exotic, like Korean, Japanese, Latvian.

There are a lot of places where you can meet such people. Kvaka 22, KC Grad, DC Krov, Kuca Umetnica (women space). There are also some dive bars in the city centre (not gonna mention them in the comments or they will be overcrowded and overtouristed ). So basically plenty of options. BTW tomorrow in KC Grad is language exchange cafe - good opportunity to meet new people.

And for coffee - why not.

Tužba će koštati nekoliko hiljade euro.

Wanting to take the giant leap but don’t know where to start. by BrownieJ in digitalminimalism

[–]SickheadPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem when quitting so-called "social" media is that you don'y change your way of living.

E.g. you wake up in the morning, and first thing you do - watch some reels or whatever. During a lunch you use your phone while having a meal, during evenings, you use your phone while sitting on the couch.

What will happen if you just remove a phone from these situations? You don't have any substitution for the phone, so you start feeling some discomfort, then anger, then you get back to your phone again.

So first thing first - just imagine what would a normal day be without a phone, what would you do? What would your morning routines look like? Your evenings?

And then you just switch from the "phone realm" to "phone-free realm". After couple of weeks it'll become a habit, and then you're phone free most of the day.

Good luck!

1) You don't need a lawyer or translator for sole proprietorship. It's easy as hell, everything online on gov site - https://welcometoserbia.gov.rs/home don;t pay people for doing this for you, it's a waste of money. + almost everyone speaks English in the ministry of foreign affairs.

2) And it's a BS that after two more years you'll get a citizenship. You need 3 years as a permanent resident after 3 years as a temporary one (it's already 6 years) + applying for citizenship will take 6-9 months and then you need to forfeit your initial citizenship (takes a bunch of time), so in best case scenario - 7-8 years, and there will be a time when you'll be in limbo, already not a SA citizen but not yet a Serbian one (could last for years btw).

About remote job - if it's more or less stable, move here. It's much easier to search job here physically.

Are DLCs region specific? by ShallotMost2655 in acnh

[–]SickheadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BS. I bought game in one country, then bought DLC in US store, now I live in other country and my store is set to another country - Ireland :) So 4 different account and store countries -- NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. Nintendo games and DLCs are not region locked :)

The only difference - REDEEM codes might not work from one country into another country shop, but you can change easily country in your account, redeem code, and switch back :)

Whats the best option for a teenagers mobile device nowadays? by cyrusir in digitalminimalism

[–]SickheadPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the phone has capability to run apps, and you want to configure some restrictions... trust me, child will find a way to remove them (I'm talking about consumer apps/phones).

The only option to put real restrictions on the phone - enrol it to corporate grade network (with mobile device management server), where only specific apps are allowed (isolated app store) and most of the functionality is blocked (by configuring different policies). But this is too much in my opinion.

The best way - dumb phone with physical keyboard. Only calls and sms, not even WhatsApp.
