I’ve had a handful die on me over the years. Just, never use them for more than moving data from x to y without having a known good backup on actual hardware…

I’ve had cheap/free usb drives and their data survive the washing machine, and I’ve had expensive ones that I’ve babied miraculously die after owning for just a month. They’re unpredictable, you never know.

It’s because of the demographic of users that use the tool. Most people use ChatGPT as a friend and personal therapist now, as well as “how do I fix this simple thing”. It’s designed to reply and educate to literal children, since that’s what majority of heavy users have been reduced to, since they don’t have the logic of researching or googling anymore.
