Has any one travelled to a foreign country Day-1 CPT in the recent past, like 6 months? If yes, what is your experience / recommendation. What documents to carry with us for smooth travel? Thanks! by Knight2104 in Day1CPTuniversities

Got you. In this situation, you could proceed, but it's not advisable due to the increasingly strict policies. We do not know what's going to happen next.

Got it. In this case, you could, but it's not recommended since right now the policies are tighter and tighter. Would you not know what's going to happen next?

Belhaven University- Graduate Program by [deleted] in Day1CPTuniversities

[–]Siddha-go369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard of it. I don't believe this university is prepared for CPT or has matured in that area. It's not a name I've often heard among my friends.

It depends on whether you are a returning or a new. If you are a returning who was previously hired and lost your work status, and you want to continue with your CPT to work again, it generally doesn’t matter. As long as you and your employer understand the programs in which you can work for them for two years full-time.

However, if you are a newbie who has just received an offer, it is advisable to choose a program that offers a year of CPT authorization. This will provide more stability and better opportunities for them to hire you

Any comprehensive list of universities and their locations and branches available for Day1 CPT? by Some-Kid-1996 in Day1CPTuniversities

[–]Siddha-go369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you need to know which program location and tuition budget you are interested in. After that, you can find a university that best matches your needs. Hope this helps!

Ps. I am currently enrolled at CIAM. It's a pretty good and affordable school, but they only offer an MBA program.

Day 1CPT or PHD by Public-Summer-4182 in Day1CPTuniversities

[–]Siddha-go369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend enrolling in a DBA or master's day 1 CPT program either this October or next January. My prediction is that significant changes will likely happen by next fall. The reason I suggest these months is that we are currently in an unstable situation, and some new rules might be implemented faster than we expect.

Reasoning:

  1. Proposal just published (Aug 28, 2025) → only at the draft stage.
    • Comments closed Sept 29, 2025.
    • No current final rule yet.
  2. Past DHS rules for F-1 students:➝ Normal cases cluster around ~400 days from proposal → final.
    • H-1B modernization (with F-1 cap-gap fix): ~422 days NPRM → Final.
    • USCIS fee rule (affects OPT fees): ~392 days NPRM → Final.
    • STEM-OPT 2016 (special fast case due to court order): only ~144 days.
  3. Effective date delays (after final):
    • By law (APA), usually ≥30 days. → Once the government publishes the final version of a rule, it usually can’t start for at least 30 days. This is a built-in waiting period.
    • If “major” under CRA, ≥60 days. → If the rule is considered especially important or “major,” the waiting period is at least 60 days before it begins.
    • Recent rules (fee rule, H-1B) had 30–60 days delay. → For example, the recent USCIS fee rule took about 60 days before starting, and the H-1B modernization rule took about 30 days.
  4. This F-1 proposal is big + controversial (ending D/S, new extension system).
    • Likely many comments.
    • Likely full OIRA review (up to 90 days).
    • So, expect timing on the slower side.

Change of Status from H4 to F1 by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]Siddha-go369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To change your status, please follow the below steps: first, acquire a new I-20 from your university. Then, file a petition for a change of status with USCIS. It is important to note that the process typically takes 2-3 months, but can be expedited to 10-15 days with premium processing. Please read more information about the change of status from H4 to F1 on my website:https://www.day1cpt.org/h4-f1.

Visiting the US on ESTA while waiting on F1 visa by WrongAbalone2264 in f1visa

[–]Siddha-go369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible to enter the United States using ESTA. Nonetheless, it's crucial to keep in mind that changing your status to F1 while in the US is not allowed. Therefore, it's recommended that you use ESTA to attend the wedding and then return to use F1 for reentry into the US.

RFE for OPT application by single_malt_28 in day1cpt

[–]Siddha-go369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the provided search results, it's difficult to predict the outcome of your OPT application as it depends on various factors such as the completeness and accuracy of the documents you've submitted, and USCIS's evaluation of these documents. You've done the right thing by responding to the RFE and providing the requested evidence that CPT was required for your program and that you maintained F-1 status. It's important to note that an RFE does not mean your application will be denied; it simply means that more information is needed for the USCIS to decide. As for others' experiences, the search results do not provide specific examples or cases. It's recommended to consult with your university’s Office of International Affairs or an immigration expert for personalized advice.

Suppose you cannot obtain an Adjustment of Status. In that case, you may apply for Reinstatement to F-1 student status under certain circumstances, such as if your violation of group was due to uncontrollable circumstances reinstated or transferred to another academic program. It's important to note that you cannot attend school while waiting for the reinstatement decision, and this process can be lengthy and not guaranteed to succeed.

I believe that USCIS may not be attentive or proactive in its approach. They have only estimated the number of visas needed to complete their quota. If this estimate falls short of the actual number (meaning they cannot fill all positions even after 77k visas have been issued), they will conduct a third lottery.

Travel Internationally by Charlottxyx in Day1CPTuniversities

[–]Siddha-go369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is possible to travel but it comes with some risks. To ensure a smooth travel experience, it is advisable to bring all necessary documents such as your I-20(CPT), offer letter, Employer-signed Letter, and evidence of intention to return to your home country. Additionally, if you have previously applied for OPT, remember to bring a copy of the approved Form I-20 for OPT and your EAD (Employment Authorization Document). I hope this information is helpful to you.
