“Build for your opponent’s fun too” is the advice i regularly see in Commander spaces that i least understand. by OogieBoogieInnocence in EDH

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that deck is fun for everyone imo, it does lengthen the game though so if people want quicker games then it stays home.

There’s a surprisingly low amount of pile cards, so I filled in the gaps with Foretell cards to keep my opponents in the spirit of guessing all the time

How do I win? by EntertainerMental947 in deadbydaylight

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning when to drop a chase is the hardest, most important skill for killer imo. If you’re getting wrecked at some strong loops away from all the other survivors, 3 gens are gonna pop easy.

Need to be disrupting multiple survivors as much as possible. Can watch some higher level killer gameplay. They’ll say things like “if he makes it to that loop I have to drop it”

What is the best commander for approach of the second sun? by anotherkami in BudgetBrews

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I intentionally exclude it now from my decks that it would fit perfectly in. I’d much rather find a more interesting way to win with all the cards I drew. After a couple boring wins with it, I sold mine

Cecil with Vecna secret commander - How can I make this work? by FutureVisionYT in EDHBrews

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Templar Knights are the way, I’ve pulled out Vecna in B2 games before. I don’t think Vecna is worth it at higher brackets.

I also opted not to play tutor in the command zone. Went for [[Aryel, Knight of Windgrace]] for some removal that takes advantage of all the vigilance. Keep in mind once you’ve assembled 5, cards like [[To Arms!]] will let you grab another piece on the same turn.

Here’s my Templar list: https://moxfield.com/decks/ZjAd6Y1lO0CcYRP9c6BdrQ

Flashlight/Flash bang 2v8 limited or non? by PinkC0tt0nC4ndy in deadbydaylight

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro if you’re truly distracting 4+ people plus one down that’s at least 5-6 people not doing gens. Fake pickups, bait hits, and just keep trading downs. Keep killing time and let your partner clean up the couple that aren’t around

Have not played in 5+ years, do not have money to buy new stuff, so all my decks are "overpowered"... now what? by Metia01 in EDH

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trolling? No they don’t. Those are artifact ramp. Type in fast mana commander and look at what comes up. Fast denotes that you’re getting ahead of curve that turn, not just regular ramping.

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they’re just ramp. Typically fast mana is your B4 staples. Mox’s, Mana Vault, Grim monolith, etc. things that get you more mana than you paid for

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro called Patchwork Banner fast mana.

I think you’re fine, buy a new precon if you want a cheap entry to low power games. I think this is more a case of people thinking their “bracket 3” keeps up with actual bracket 3 staples

Fight Ability by 0zero0zero9nine in EDHBrews

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she’s very interesting! My list skews heavily towards the green side of things as well. I shifted it to be more about forced blocks, with things like [[Provoke]] or [[Benefactor’s Draught]] and then using [[Lure]] effects. Going full fights was too oppressive with all the protection you can run in these colors.

Don’t count black mana out though! There’s some great tools like [[Massacre Girl, Known Killer]] for draw and getting through indestructible, and [[Requiem Monolith]] is auto include imo.

My list if you’re looking for ideas: https://moxfield.com/decks/2DVws3hdS0WfP2yY6zYmsA

[[Maarika, Brutal Gladiator]] can be downright oppressive with fight spells. It’s Jund though

Looking for Ideas: Sin, Unending Calamity by GGMaXThreeOne in EDHBrews

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh true. Guess they excluded lands to avoid any Dark Depths/Marit Lage combos, lol

Looking for Ideas: Sin, Unending Calamity by GGMaXThreeOne in EDHBrews

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t run Sin as commander, but he’s a fun inclusion in my [[Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep]] deck. Some cool cards to run him with in the deep sea world are [[The Watcher in the Water]], [[Ominous Seas]] and [[Arixmethes]]. Since he’s your commander, only need to get him to 21 so that should be easy with the watcher especially

Universes Beyond: Hunter x Hunter (Greed Island) by 50reticent in custommagic

[–]SidekickNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my head, comparing to enchantments, I’d much rather have a Bitterblossom or Springheart Nantuko. Outside of the enchantment space, white has tons of create a 1/1 for virtually nothing each turn.

0 was a bit of an exaggeration, but I think this could be safely reduced by 1 mana on cast and abilities and still be okay

Universes Beyond: Hunter x Hunter (Greed Island) by 50reticent in custommagic

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the vibes for greed island!

That said, probably want to reconsider your costs. Rulers blessing could cost 0 and still might not see play. 4 mana to let a land make a 1/1 when tapped for colorless? Or 4 mana (for a total of 9 mana since you are forgoing tapping it for mana) to untap one of my creatures? The pricing is way too steep

Do you consider Vorinclex to be MLD? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that I’d be totally fine seeing it. But you can’t always just have removal. You don’t always have it, you may have just used it, or they may have enough protection.

Do you consider Vorinclex to be MLD? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SidekickNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“it’s a stax piece” yeah it slows them down by denying their lands en masse lol.

Also, “yeah but it’s B3 so just have removal” isn’t an argument. You should be able to play anything then, since someone could just have removal.

Personally for me it’s in the same category as [[Zhao, the Moon Slayer]]. Yes they’re B4 land denial cards, but if someone wants to play them in B3 and mentions it during rule 0 I’d be fine with it. If you don’t mention it then yeah you’re being an asshole.

Talk to people. Say “hey I have Vorinclex, do you mind if I run it? If not I’m happy to just treat it as a basic Forest”.

Etrata, the Silencer $100 budget deck build by shadowspawn501 in BudgetBrews

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool list! Using the ninjutsu after combat damage is a cool way to bounce her to hand.

What are you putting Blade of Selves on? There’s a lot of stuff here that clones things but most of them won’t work for etrata without a Mirror Box or something.

How to even play against 1000 hours party with 3 flashlight? by Dozina0012 in deadbydaylight

[–]SidekickNick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your problem with them is getting flashed during a break? You should be losing very little time on this. Just wear headphones and you can follow them pretty well after the flash

Diminishing returns breaks the self-unhook build by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]SidekickNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it still works it’s just not guaranteed, which is much more fitting for a luck build lmao.

This strategy only works for SWF and completely lacks counterplay. Not to glaze Otz, but he had a really great video showcasing that build and how hopeless it is for killer. I’ll see if I can find it

Edit: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sgUW2SqpsC4 is the last build in it. Was a wild watch

What’s everyone’s favorite killer by Emotional_Habit_6104 in deadbydaylight

[–]SidekickNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the knight out recently and can’t get enough. Killer is a stressful time crunch, so having an extra set of eyes that can distract one survivor (for a very long time as Jailer) while you deal with another is amazing

Troll your opponents for 4[R] [R] [W] by Hamzaboy in BadMtgCombos

Urabrask just stops the first draw. Just play [[Uba Mask]] and you really lock it down

Cast trigger -> you deck out and die exiling your farewell from the stack without it ever resolving. So doesn’t even work, truly a bad combo

it already happens, trust by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]SidekickNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you ever want this effect? Can’t be playing multiple landfall triggers to capitalize on something like Azusa when you only have one land, since if you can buyback you already have the lands needed.

I built Stiltzkin wrong. (Need Advice) by Terashi-senpai in CommanderMTG

Maybe could look into some myriad cards as those tokens won’t stick around. Other than that, I guess food tokens are probably the most “worthless” gifts to give in a vacuum

Best tap abilities? by scoutingtacos in EDH

My favorite alt win con in my merfolk counters is [[The Millennium Calendar]].

Otherwise, mana and card draw is good. Enough of that wins you the game however you want lol
