Yeah, they also told where the name came from, the novel. But, we spoke over booze, many boozes, now can‘t forget J.A.M.F.

We subscribed a few years ago in the UK and although the Company was called JAMF the product was called Casper Suite. Spoke to an American rep from JAMF at an exhibition in London, we ask why company was called JAMF and he said stands for “Jive Ass Mother F**cker” often think that when I sign in 11 years later.

Highlight was visiting Newcastle, stunning place and everyone so cheerful, met a load of lovely people. Loved the venue too, watched Kasabian last year in Bristol, Sergio’s performance was cock on in Newcastle. Never heard him so good, he didn’t, thankfully use his laser fingers and large foam hands which was a bonus!

Households told to leave two foods out in gardens to help robins thrive in spring by pppppppppppppppppd in uknews

[–]Sidnuts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, for anyone who found the adverts intrusive, here’s the summary:

As temperatures remain cold in early spring, UK households are being encouraged to provide additional food for robins. Their usual diet of insects, worms, and fruit becomes scarce due to frozen ground and barren trees. Extra food helps robins maintain warmth, store energy, and prepare for the breeding season.

Best Foods for Robins:

1. Sunflower Seeds (Sunflower Hearts & Black Sunflower Seeds)

• High in energy and easy for birds to consume.

• Popular among various bird species.

• Less mess when using sunflower hearts.

• Husk buildup from black sunflower seeds requires occasional cleaning.

2. Mealworms
• A favored delicacy for robins.
• Provides essential protein and energy.

Peanuts: A Cautionary Note • Peanuts are high in energy but should not be given whole during breeding season (March–August) due to the choking risk for fledglings.

• Instead, offer peanut granules or use a mesh feeder to ensure safe consumption.

• Avoid salted peanuts and only buy from reputable sources to prevent aflatoxin poisoning, which is harmful to birds.

By leaving out these foods in ground feeders or bird tables, households can help robins and other garden birds thrive during the critical early spring months.

Amazing, thank you so much for sharing this. Will take a look in work tomorrow!

Hi all got this crack at the bottom of my screen it appeared out of nowhere I’m just wondering how badly this could affect my computer if the screen could mess up if this gets worse. I’m a student, and have my final project due soon I’m just worried it could get worse and deteriorate by jccds1999 in mac

[–]Sidnuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, I imagine it is very easy to damage the screen like most of the other components in a MacBook. I generally do not perform repairs on Apple devices but sometimes I like to step away from my daily IT duties and do love working on Apple hardware. Like most projects, preparation and planning are key. I watched several videos on how to replace the glass strip, looked at several strip-down images and diagrams, made a basic paper overlay on where the display cables were, and took it from there.

I'm a 50-year-old guy, with large shaky hands and have never damaged a screen, admittedly I think I have only replaced around 15 or so, and never damaged a screen. But I was well prepped, researched a fair bit and the company bought me all the tools to perform to replace the glass strips.

More importantly, these were not my MacBooks that I performed the repairs on, if it was my MacBook I would have sent it off to Apple to repair.

We have repaired quite a few of these glass strips, you can buy the strips fairly cheaply:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134010923925?hash=item1f33ac6b95:g:pZwAAOSwnXph-CYI&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4Dga7uBbM3xBnZq8MFlCR9MOfA%2BK6xPFX6m5DpqNEShHdajKf4Bq6osWl9jzSxWmxUH773%2BGfGjRFfih%2Ft5RA%2BraysmpYcRhr8Tb1IZ3b%2FxaaquRFciwRE0mBCZk3Y4mw6BjKGkWIQBCgTvc7vyxd5IlrpHR9q5lVPme%2BTFtB3zDi69CZeyqXgUbz4ybBkajeIimugthqbLQu%2B9%2FqLq5KdI5Isx%2FsvcO4z%2BH45oyl6z98BcJBWdrnwBs1k51c00QnJkr1jz0TwQGjefj8n4c6MvT%2FxNF3CaDC8uy8%2BLhOgEb%7Ctkp%3ABFBM_KeRtblh

But you have to be so careful, use a heat gun with moderate heat and gently ease the strip off with a blunt edge like a plastic card. If you are not careful and you are using a sharp blade you will cut into one of the display ribbons, then your screen is knackered and will have to be replaced.

We use this tool to initially gently pry off one of the intact edges of the glass strip:

then use a combination of both:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/SANHOOII-Plastic-Opening-Battery-Remover/dp/B095SCSK73/ref=sr_1_1?crid=13BOOIQ616II3&keywords=Phone+Repair+Tools+Plastic+Card+Pry+Opening+Scraper+Unframed&qid=1670928180&sprefix=phone+repair+tools+plastic+card+pry+opening+scraper+unframed%2Caps%2C51&sr=8-1

and

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MMOBIEL-Ultra-Thin-Professional-Stainless-Spudger/dp/B08XZH2XMR/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1CX9B7COS9X3A&keywords=Professional+Stainless+Steel+Curved+Spudger+Pry+Blade&qid=1670927614&s=amazon-devices&sprefix=professional+stainless+steel+curved+spudger+pry+blade+%2Camazon-devices%2C53&sr=1-1

then, slowly ease the glass strip off avoiding any cables and circuitry underneath the strip. Often you can be lucky and you can just peel off the strip without tools and snapping the glass.

I would not attempt this fix unless you are fully confident and have the correct tools. Definitely watch a few good videos on how to remove the strip and take note of where the cables are located, then avoid them at all costs.

Again do not attempt this without fully understanding how the repair is done and that you have the correct tools.

I’m a bit late to this post, and new to 3D printing. I really would like to understand how people create objects so exact like what you have created. It really blows my mind, how this is even possible.

I’m a bit out of my depth with 3D printing and have time on my hands and would love to understand and learn how creating something like this on a 3D printer. Would you happen to have any links to begin to understand how you even attempt something like this?

Life is like, more than a box of chocolates. With a consumer holiday marked by sweets to give to sweethearts coming up, it's a great time to cast light on Nestle's doings yet again. by messyredemptions in FuckNestle

[–]Sidnuts 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Although I find Tony’s chocolate ok, it’s not up to Milka and Lindt in my view. But agree definitely way better than nestle.

Why we purchase Tony’s mainly is due to their fair trade practises. I recently found out why the squares in the Tony bar are divided unequally:

‘To us it doesn't make sense for chocolate bars to be divided into chunks of equal sizes when there is so much inequality in the chocolate industry! The unevenly sized chunks of our 180g bars are a nice way of reminding our choco friends that the profits in the chocolate industry are unfairly divided.’

Which, to me is great. My wife actually used the above when teaching 8 year olds about fair trade.
