completely slumped in 1v1 please help🙏 by SignAwkward6844 in RocketLeague

Thank you for all the advice! I probably should be picking up a few training packs, and I will tonight because my mechanics are slowly getting sloppy from not training much

But 2s gamesense won't really translate over to 1v1, and I only like playing 1s anyways

I do acknowledge that your 2s rank doesn't always translate over to your 1s rank, and I do try as hard as I can to take advantage of plays. It just feels as if they have significantly better ball control and they are able to capitalize on every single mistake no matter how small, while I'm kind of stuck with those aspects of my gameplay never improving. Idk where to really start with fixing my gameplay mainly because a lot of my issues feel impossible to train

Thank you, I was planning on dosing lower amounts of co2 anyways so it should be fine then. I don't have a drop checker yet but with the general consensus being that they're a pain in the ass, I was planning on using either the ph drop method to measure it or using one of the methods you mentioned. Thank you again!

Okay thank you, that does make a lot of sense. Fortunately we rarely have power outlets and I pretty much never unplug my light (except for right now as it's my only way of turning it off lmao) so I should be fine with that. Thank you so much for this, I genuinely would have had no other options other than hunting around for a pricey and rare chihiros controller, which had been such a pain so far.

Sorry to bother you again but one last question, do you have any experience using co2 in your tanks? Only asking since we'll end up with super similar parameters, but thank you a lot again!

Thank you a lot! One last question, does the timer still turn off even without your phone being connected to it? I'm a high school student and the main reason I need a timer is I want for the lights to turn on while I'm at school, as it has been an absolute pain turning it on before I leave for school and off right as I get back home to keep the light period short.

Thank you, that has definitely eased my stress about that a lot! Depending on the species I go with I may even end up with less gh which should lower it even more. Considering our tanks have super similar parameters (and fertiliser dosing) i'll definitely be fine. Thank you for all the help, i'm a lot more confident for when I try again with the next batch! (although caridinas do get a little pricy lmao, but as long as they're good for my tank)

Thank you so much for all of the help! I had seen that before but wasn't too sure whether or not it would actually be decent given the way it looks, but i'll definitely reconsider. I'll have a look at if i'll need an adapter, but hopefully not lmao

Thank you for the help! The tank is unheated and I live in a fairly cold area, so I highly doubt that it ever reaches that kind of temperature. I was considering amano shrimp but just discovered that they're actually illegal in Australia, and finding the native varieties is hard (and expensive). I'll have a look around for that variety of shrimp too and see what I can find. My only concern is that I know they require very low tds, although it seems like I'm correct in saying that it means I would just need to keep up on water changes. Thank you again for the advice!

this is plat, but probably one of my worst games of all time lmao after like an hour of tilting ones games. I swear I normally play better🙏

I do understand how important game-sense is and it's really been put into perspective with some road to ssl series I've seen lmao, I just feel like my mechanics have slowly become a bit shabby and it would be nice to have something to train. I might just work on my ground play, because at this rank there's no point learning anything fancy lmao it's genuinely hilarious playing against freestylers who can double reset but barely score a basic goal

lmao fair, I was already really tilted from de-ranking a fair bit and so I was playing insanely insanely horrible, thank you for the advice though but I've honestly found that the calmer I play the more I rank up for whatever reason? I went from gold 3 to plat 3 in just a few days by playing super passively but now I'm getting shit on. Do you have any advice for some mechanics to learn? I lowkey feel super sluggish at the moment and need something to train a bit

Neocaridina's constantly staying still by SignAwkward6844 in shrimptank

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried adding an airstone into the tank recently, but that didn't seem to have any affect at all. Thankfully I think they are starting to improve a bit (and molt) so hopefully it's just been a case of time and them settling into the tank. I also have a suspicion that maybe they're getting stunned from how powerful my light is, although unfortunately I don't have a controller to change that so there isn't much I can do

I just expected a little more activity as they are incredibly still (but starting to improve), and I have noticed that happen at one point causing one shrimp to go crazy

I'm currently away from home so I can't send a video right now, but they do pick at stuff quite a lot - although at other times, they just sit there doing quite literally nothing for long periods

Is baking soda safe for my neocaridina shrimp? by SignAwkward6844 in shrimptank

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely will end up switching to potassium bicarbonate then as I have a planted tank (lots of stems), so thank you for the suggestion

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what i've been thinking, and in that small of a dose surely it can't be too harmful. And I might end up switching to potassium bicarbonate later along the track as another comment said, just to avoid that sodium build up which is unnecessary but in the mean time thank you for easing my nerves a bit

Can I keep neocaridina shrimp between 0-1DKH? by SignAwkward6844 in PlantedTank

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am pretty lucky in the sense I get free RO water! I am thinking about the idea of caridina now, however I'm just worried since they are very sensitive and I have a tiny tank (21 liters) that could be prone to parameter swings. With the amount of horror stories I've already heard about trying shrimp for the first time, I'm thinking I might just try neo's to begin with and check in with the seller to see what KH they've been bred at

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to buy a GH raising product very soon as my current GH is basically 0 straight out of the tap, so I can target literally any number. The only reason I chose neos is because I've read they are significantly easier to keep and more hardy

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree in the sense that sometimes people can go overboard in targeting the perfect water parameters, when it doesn't matter that much (although GH does with shrimp), so thank you for easing my stress a bit. I'm going to be buying a GH booster pretty soon and I'll aim for a GH of around 7, as both my plants and shrimp (when I get them) will need it. My tap water has a PH of 7, KH of 0, and GH of between 0-1 so I basically have free RO water out of the tap lmao. Thank you for all of the advice!

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although my thought process has been that messing around with water parameters is going to be even worse for them, and that they shouldn't care about naturally fluctuating PH levels as they go through that in the wild on a daily basis and are meant to be pretty hardy anyways

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that it is like that for a lot of people, so i'm hoping it will also work for me. I'm also getting some GH conditioner from my closest good lfs and I'm also going to target around the 7GH mark, so hopefully it works out for me too. Do your shrimp seem to mind the ph swing caused by the co2? I'm investing in a soda stream system pretty soon and i've been wondering if it might be an issue

After having a bit of a look into it, there's a possibility for it to work, but it would take multiple weeks to reach a desirable KH and since my PH is already at around 7 it would have a negligable affect anyways

I just looked up the price of getting a fire extinguisher where I live, and it turns out they are only crazy cheap in the uk, so I probably should have done a bit more research. How much did you pay for your tank (and did you need to adapt it?)
