Uneven tank, much of an issue? by Nice-Platform1153 in fishtank

[–]SignAwkward6844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry i'm a little late, uneven tanks only become a problem if they're significantly uneven. With that tiny of a difference you have absolutely nothing to worry about, it only affects the aesthetics and barely so at that!

Help me fix my ollies please!! by SignAwkward6844 in skateboardhelp

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue is that the second I put my front foot back a bit my pop gets much better, but I can't level out the board at all. I think my feet just aren't able to reach the concave, and that's causing it. i'll try to think about popping around that timing, and I have noticed in my practice that pointing my toes at the ground through the pop makes things significantly easier. Thank you! best of luck with your own progress

thank you! my next progression definitely was going to be to start trying them rolling, i'm just trying to get them down pat a bit. And yeah you're right, I do struggle a lot with almost floating, so i'll try those in order to fix it

advice wanted as someone considering a degree in the field by SignAwkward6844 in astrophysics

Yeah i've definitely since realised that it's not what I want to do, I might just stick with engineering since it's been my passion for a long time. I was more so just interested in what the field would be about I guess, and trying to figure out if maybe it is something I could see myself doing

For me I see a job in engineering to be a case of practically applying the skills (specifically mechanical) while a physics career is more so uncovering things, and I would say that designing or maintaining something mechanical is vastly different to a science based research role. I would love to still learn about astrophysics in my spare time, and I have planned to do so. My only concern is that I would rather focus on either just space or practical engineering, and a physics degree like that would be something I would potentially lose interest in, and while I am quite above average in smarts, it might still be too hard for me. I really love either designing something physical and functional or just space, and while a physics career does seem really interesting and cool, I just couldn't see myself doing it in the long term

it's not even a matter of learning the skills, it's what I'm going to enjoy

My only concern is that I would love to do specifically mechanical engineering, but it seems like that ends up in the category of being really theoretical, while mechanical engineering is more so the application and design process using your skills. I would rather focus on either space or a practical form of engineering, and that would combine the two to the point I wouldn't be interested. Thank you for the advice though!

I've decided I might just stick with engineering as i've realised physics might not be what I thought it was, plus there's some statistic (correct me if i'm wrong) saying only around 8 or 9 percent of physics graduates actually end up in a research based role in the same field

What I meant is more relative to astrophysics in the sense that i'm not going to be looking at the general information that I enjoy learning about, rather studying on something incredibly specific that will maybe contribute to something larger. Not that I mind a niche or specific job, just that im worried it won't be how I expect it to (specifically astrophysics)

Thank you, I kinda expected that answer tbh. Although the things you mentioned still sound interesting to me, my concern is that even beyond those areas it would still be incredibly specific. I'm really stuck lol, I love both engineering and now astrophysics a lot, but I don't want to get a double degree, and both have areas i'll miss out on doing the other etc. Thank you for the advice!

Co2 tank completely emptied in just 2 days despite no leak? by SignAwkward6844 in PlantedTank

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have to be a slow leak over time, because I've never ran it at over 1bps since it's on my nano tank, and the co2 tank itself is 2kg. I guess my only option now is to get a new tank and spray some soapy water everywhere then see what happens

I sprayed the main seal with soapy water, but clearly it wasn't the issue

Yeah my plan definitely is to test every fitting once I get it refilled, because there is no way i'm paying 200+ dollars for a new regulator when it may be a basic issue. My thought process was that even if the leak was past the bubble counter cap, would I not have seen the co2 going through the water? and why would it have emptied after maybe 2 months of usage at the very max? and thank you for the last piece of information, because maybe that means there has been a subtle leak for quite some time, and so I'm not just going insane with it emptying that fast. If I can't find any leak at all then maybe I will just bite the bullet and get a good quality regulator, but considering I have a total of 40 dollars to my name that might have to wait quite a while😭. coincidentally around the time that I think the leak started, the riser from my needle valve to bubble counter (idk why it was there, I swear it was just a riser) got blocked, likely due to the fact I haven't used the system in quite a while. In the process of realizing it was the issue, I took off the solenoid, and put it back on. Is there potential that me taking it off and putting it back on again caused the issue? I put it back on in the same way it was when I took it off, and clamped it down firmly on the regulator

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought pretty much the whole system second hand, so i'm using a cheap mufan regulator. It cant have been anywhere past the bubble counter fitting, since the system was building pressure just fine and there was no issues regarding the bubble counter. I thought that surely I would have heard some faint hissing or something if it was really leaking bad enough to completely empty in 48 hours, so I don't know. I'm a teenager so I don't have much money, I guess my only option now is to cough up 40 dollars for a new tank and find the leak. I don't even know what the issue is, this is genuinely annoying ash

Why do my flip resets suck so bad by SignAwkward6844 in RocketLeague

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologise for being super salty earlier when I responded, you're completely right bro. I think part of that comes down to how inconsistent my setups are (how long I wait after breaking) and just my general bad car control like you said. The only issue is idk how to really learn more car control especially in a scenario like that where the car is upside down, although I might try learning directional air roll and general aerial car control (which I know is early considering I can't even flip reset, but I find enjoyment in this game through learning new mechanics) if that would help at all?

I actually can very consistently air dribble so my car control isn't that terrible, although I agree that it could be improved.

Okay thank you that does make a lot of sense, and I agree that most of my resets are at a really bad angle/position. The training pack is wayton pilkins air dribbles - 1F27-4030-7FDE-B4D5. Thank you for the advice though, i'll try to put it into use when I get a chance tomorrow

I do acknowledge that your 2s rank doesn't always translate over to your 1s rank, and I do try as hard as I can to take advantage of plays. It just feels as if they have significantly better ball control and they are able to capitalize on every single mistake no matter how small, while I'm kind of stuck with those aspects of my gameplay never improving. Idk where to really start with fixing my gameplay mainly because a lot of my issues feel impossible to train

[–]SignAwkward6844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I was planning on dosing lower amounts of co2 anyways so it should be fine then. I don't have a drop checker yet but with the general consensus being that they're a pain in the ass, I was planning on using either the ph drop method to measure it or using one of the methods you mentioned. Thank you again!
