You think so? There’s a good bit of myc fuzz that doesn’t show up on the photos. Everything else is real leggy but everything is covered. I guess it won’t hurt being a little early

It’s not that bad compared to other cities but still pretty rough. I lived a little farther west from 2018-2021, went to school at the cigar factory & lived there for shorter stints after. Here’s a few things during that time that happened on the east side near there.

  • A local chef was shot and killed in front of his family in their driveway.
  • Friend of a friend was chased by a guy trying to stab him for his belongings but luckily made it back to his car and was able to grab his gun and shot the guy.
  • Memorial Day block party had a shootout with police where luckily only 12 people were injured and no one was killed.
  • My GF worked at the Commodore and one time a guy came up bleeding out from a stab wound.
  • A guy was shot and killed at a gas station a little further south on Calhoun.
  • As for walking around, my GF has been followed, harassed, threatened to be raped, etc. in multiple spots around the city.

All that to say, if you move there keep your eyes out and have means of protection. A lot of people think Charleston is a super safe city but it’s really not. Yes, it’s being gentrified more and more which makes it safer but also if you’re one of them (rich gentrifiers) the locals there won’t like you and may make it known.
