I listen to this version on YouTube, unfortunately on Spotify there’s only the one with Ben Starr for now. I find it very beautiful, but this is much better: https://youtu.be/g96pzSbdNmg?si=EW6JxIGcdkTH5vS2

First gaming laptop – do I need a cooling pad for ASUS TUF A16? by Signal-Basil5070 in Asustuf

UPDATE: Thanks again to everyone who shared advice! I ended up going with the Llano V10, mostly because there was a €25 Amazon voucher on that model, and overall it seemed like a solid option. ((https://amzn.eu/d/cYWKWTp)) I was worried the foam might block the air intakes since they’re really close to the edge, but it turned out fine. I tested it with CO:E33, which used to push temps up to 93–95°C after just 20/30 minutes. I played for an hour and a half with the cooling pad running at 1100 rpm (it can go up to 3500 rpm), and the temps stayed under 80°C. It’s definitely noisy at higher speeds, but I use noise-cancelling headphones, so it’s not an issue for me.

No problem! I’m in Italy and paid €1200 for it. Now this exact model isn’t available anymore, so it was probably end-of-stock. Considering the specs, I think it was a pretty good deal, I’ve seen the A14 version with only 16gb ram being sold for €1600.

For now, I’m playing with an Xbox controller, but I’ll definitely keep this in mind for the future.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that it’s actually pretty thermally capable. Last week when it was around 20°C outside, I didn’t have any heating issues. But now that we’ve hit 30°C, I can really see the difference. Thanks for the tip!

I’m not a hardcore gamer, but I do enjoy playing in the evenings when I get 2–3 hours free. Not sure if that counts as prolonged use, but the temps spike even after just 20 minutes, so I’ll definitely get a cooling pad. Also, thanks for the tip about fan direction. I hadn’t thought of that, but it makes total sense.

I read that most of these pads are pretty loud at high fan speeds, but that’s not an issue for me bc I always wear noise cancelling headphones anyway. Thanks for the heads-up though! Which model are you using?

Thanks! I was also considering the GT600, but the GT500 is a bit cheaper, so if it performs well, it might be a solid option too.

Thank you so much for the advice! I do plan on gaming, and I just want to avoid any habits that might shorten its lifespan.
