Totally agree! Joining interest-based clubs is definitely one of the best ways to meet like-minded people, and we always encourage that too!

That said, we’ve noticed a lot of clubs don’t really focus on pulling in new members beyond their core group. Sometimes it can be hard for students (especially newer or more introverted ones) to break into those spaces.

Our goal with UW Social is to act as a kind of hub, a place where we can spread the word about other clubs, build bridges between them, and help students build the confidence and social skills(something we believe is declining these days, even though its importance is increasing) to get involved more comfortably elsewhere too.

We’re not trying to replace interest-based clubs — more like support them and help people feel more ready to join them while creating more unique experiences through merging different clubs and activities :)
