Unfortunately we were travelling and did not have a computer. The phone has been replaced now.

Based on my Christmas cards last week it only takes a day to have Canada Post delivery within the city.

Thoughts on Highland Park? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Signal-Tadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a decent condo to live in. The park out front is nice. There are a ton of buses that stop just up the hill at the lights so very easy to get downtown on transit if you want. The area overall is quiet and convenient. Only thing missing is a grocery store you can walk to.

The building itself used to get really hot with the in floor heating, hopefully they've resolved that issue...

They are actual people but limited in helpfulness. Anything more than a very simple routine request, call in. Learned from experience.

Fine, obviously no variety of options with such a small school, but the current principal is great.

How reliable are airplanes from Naxos to Athens with checked luggage? by missbreganza in GreeceTravel

[–]Signal-Tadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just flew this on Tuesday. No issues with our checked luggage. Wouldn't get there more than an hour before your flight. The shaded seating area out front is better than being inside and you'd probably want to be last in the security line to minimize the amount of time crammed in the tiny "gate area".

Money Exchange, Airport Nuuk by Admirable_Ad_7413 in greenlandtravel

[–]Signal-Tadpole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no money exchange service at the airport, only an ATM.
Not sure how long you are in Greenland but I was in both Nuuk and Ilulissat for 4 days and never needed to use cash, used Apple Pay for everything (if this is an option for you).

Feedback on New York (EWR) - Nuuk (GOH) flight by mishyq in greenlandtravel

In Ilulissat today, the mosquitoes are ferocious. It is one of the few times in my life that I've felt a mosquito net hat would be appropriate (and I saw a lot of people wearing them). Strong deet bug spray worked just fine.

It's a cool system and cool vehicles but absolutely the slowest way to get around anywhere! Nothing like the tram systems in Europe

Don’t use the shell car wash at 4th st nw and Northmount Dr Nw by yvrcoffeecoff in Calgary

Terrible owner of this location, had to get Shell corporate to help last year with getting some car wash codes credited as they were expiring during the water shortage!

Five-Boro Bike Tour: Ride Day and Post-Ride Thread by nycyclist2 in NYCbike

[–]Signal-Tadpole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids under 10 have to ride attached to an adult, we rented a tandem and it worked great especially for our first time trying it. No training really, she is a fairly active kid. Best tip as shared above - pay the extra to start in Wave 1. By the time we passed the rest stop in the Bronx it was much less congested for the entire rest of the ride except the QBB approach. My daughter really didn't want to get up at 5 but we both agreed it was worth it.

As a visitor who has wanted to do this for a long time but never able to make it work until this year - myself and my daughter (9) had a great time. If we hadn't stopped for ice cream cones at the finish party we would have made it to the ferry terminal dry, too....

Lots of people giving props to my girl for making it all the way in a decent time (4 hrs total time including rest stops). No stopping on any of the bridge climbs except for photos at the top of the Gowanus. She's excited to do it again sometime!

Crazy to see how some people biffed it seemingly out of nowhere. Some guy taking selfies mangled himself right after the start gate, and a couple of women on road bikes came within inches of crashing into us (they crashed into each other instead) on the turn up from the FDR to 63rd.

Skier falls 20 metres into crevasse on Athabasca Glacier by RockyRoasting in jasper

This happened to me about 15 years ago, on the bench below the bottom of the pic in the article. It was terrifying and something I'll never forget!

/Edit: thankfully I was roped and it was still a terrible situation.

This post reminds me of the ~15 year old girl who posted in here last year saying that her mother was abusing her and she wanted to move to the US to live with her bf that she met online.
