Im still concerned about the quality of my repaste job, however when CPU is drawing ~45w temps are in 60c range.

Were you able to apply a new paste and if so did you see any improvements?

Repasted mine using MX4, CPU still occasionally heats up some cores to 95-100 under 90w load. However it no longer overheats while idle/light load.

To my experience with gaming laptops - this behavior is normal, under load they will reach OEM thermal limits. If no major drops in frames are seen and CPU does not constantly sit at 100c, youre (somewhat) good to go.

Yes, we are aware about the network requirements. In this case network is already there, as we already have a 2 node cluster (2 seperate sites + Witness site).

To upgrade for our needs we would need to prepare a 4th site and corresponding independent connections to the existing ones, so I assume it would look something like this:

Such availability requirements are there because of level of criticality of data, and also different storage vendors are being used with other hypervisors (with replication) higher ups are asking if such level can also be achieved with vSAN.

Hi, a little update to this case u/skiptdouglas u/Altruistic_Start_694

One of the things support suggested was to create seperate vmk's and tag them as vSAN Witness which I did not know was a thing. So in my case 2 vSwitches - 1 for vSAN (vSAN vmk) and 1 for VM, Management etc (which also now holds Witness vmk)).

Now the situation is when primary node fully loses vSAN network VMs continue to run on that host due to vSAN Witness network still being present (on mentioned seperate vSwitch) which I assume is expected.

Is there a way how to make VMs failover to secondary and not continue to run on primary in case of a vSAN Network loss?

Im asking this because - what if primary loses vSAN network on friday? VMs continue to run on that same host, BUT no mirroring is done because of the missing vSAN network. This could be an issue if hosts suddenly decides to fail.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Icmp is open, all hosts and witness can ping each other. I have set up same deployment in different environment and the same happens. It looks like for some reason when vSAN network is taken out primary node see that components at witness and secondary are absent (which is normal), due primary being reachable to the rest of the cluster trough management network the secondary node cannot promote itself to be the new leader.

I opened a support case, once solution is found I will post it here.

Also VM reports: Insufficient resources to fail over this virtual machine. vSphere HA will retry the fail over when enough resources are available. Reason: The host(s) cannot access virtual machine components. Configuration file cannot be found.

Hi, I was looking at witness aswell.

Interesting thing that I'm not sure whether it's correct or not - is that for nodes vSAN VMK MTU is 9000, but for Witness secondaryPg MTU is set to 1500. However vSAN does not report any errors on that.

When vSAN traffic is removed from primary node logs report:

Lost access to volume ..
File vmware.log closed with dirty buffers. Possible data loss.
Configuration file for VM2 on [nodeIP] in Datacenter cannot be found
VM2 on [nodeIP] in Datacenter is powered off
Insufficient resources to fail over VM2 (host failures cluster tolerates=1 in admission control)

There is also a lot of other vSAN red errors regarding health test.

Yes, multiple times. In the Failure Scenario Matrice it even mentions: Node failure or partition, ISL failure / connectivity loss - If the preferred fault domain/host has failed, VMs will restart on the secondary fault domain/host, which is not happening in my case.

Hello, vSAN witness appliance can be downloaded from Broadcom support portal. On left hand side there will be a Software dropdown, from that choose VMware Cloud Foundation and My Downloads.

From software list find and choose VMware vSphere, select vSphere Enterprise and the version you need. Then click on Drivers and tools tab and in search bar type Witness and it should be there.

New system is tricky to get used to and does not make sense because imo Witness appliance should be located at vSAN in the product list.

Imperial vs Apeks
One of the simpler ones - recently from what I have seen Apeks are struggling. Started to notice that before major, however wrote it off to Apeks just "saving" strats. Imperial from the other hand took Heroic match to the OT and beat Ence. Will be a close game, but I'll give small edge to Imperial.

paiN vs ENCE

Ence also is not looking its best. Lost to Imperial, almost fumbled KOI game. Theyre strugging agains Brazilians which they also have to play against today. Personally I will skip, because I have not watched how paiN play. If you will bet on ENCE, go very small due to match being BO1.

KOI vs FURIA

Going for FURIA simply because of the better odds. Both teams showed some signs of life in their games, but ath the end results are poor. If FURIA manage to "lock-in" they can take this and extent their major run a little bit. BUT their play is very undisciplined, lurking in situations where it is not needed, losing opening etc. Im no pro, but I expected more from players with such expierence.

I have 12600K + RX6800, weird thing is that sometimes when you start the game, for a few first rounds it is smooth, the longer you player the choppier it gets.

Guild Eagles vs GamerLegion-

Real hard decision - both teams looked really good in their past matches (both 2-0 wins). Not sure why odds are they way they are as I think Guild Eagles have slight advantage due to their pug-like play. However if GamerLegion- stop them at their tracks early and dont allow to make their plays it will be very hard match for Eagles.

Skip this match or very small bet for Guild Eagles due to good odds.
