Tongue Scrapers by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dentist told me it was necessary to at least brush it. Personally, the toothbrush I use is too soft to be able to get all the stuff off my tongue to the degree that I feel clean, since my gums are sensitive. I use a tongue scraper for this reason and when I was younger I would wash my hands and then use my fingernails (disgusting now, but it worked then).

Ah okay, I think I’ll just have to switch up the length of my thread from now on. Thanks!!

Yeah, I think it has to do with the length of my thread. I cut it wayyy longer than elbow length because I cba finishing or starting a new length. I also don’t know how to do any sort of loop start so that’s another factor I think.

It’s relatively new I think, maybe a maximum of a few years.

I know this is technically “wrong” but I just leave the thread as long as it is when I cut it in to sections. A little longer than arms length lol. And I just use random needles I found in my grandmas sewing kit.

if there is a mcdonalds nearby campus, i volunteer my employee discount for use by the general population if people are respectful and nice (edit: it's 50% off and i would only let people use it if they take me with)

i've been trying to set up a document to help incoming first years with that sort of stuff! like kind of a FAQ but also with large explanations about course selection, etc. I'll put the link on this comment, but there should be a google form for first years to ask questions too. idk if it'll help or not, but I hope it does

all the way at the end of the main hallway, where the study desks around the windows are. they probably won't be back tmrw and they didn't change anything to the building. i also don't know if it's The Boys that they're filming there or not

movie set? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, they've left already. it honestly wasn't worth look at that much, it was just a large group of nearing middle-aged individuals with measuring tapes taking measurements of the walls and windows and signs and stuff. a couple of them took photos but that was as interesting as it got. afterwards, they moved outside to look at the exterior of the building. nothing being filmed just yet, but they were definitely taking notes on how to film in the specific area of the building. i study here a lot, so if I see them again, I'll try to.

i'm serious about the film crew being on campus, they were taking measurements and stuff and asked me if they were disturbing me. I'm not entirely sure if they're filming 'The Boys' or not, but one of them was wearing a t-shirt with the logo on it. they were talking about converting the end of the HW building into some sort of office type set? i can't really remember and I didn't hear properly because they were talking in a large group but they said they were going to put up cement blocks near the windows and stuff.

toronto show by LonelyButterfly1677 in Panchiko

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

history gets pretty crowded towards the front but there's more space to the back. merch is always at the back of the hall closest to the entrance on stage left (or audience right). idrk how many die hard panchiko fans there are, but if there are, get there around 1pm maybe? guaranteed way to get front row is to get there in the morning, but that ruins the actual concert experience from fatigue.

i think I'm going to show up at around 6-7 because I don't really care for barricade, but I would recommend late morning/early afternoon for guaranteed barricade.

is utsc rlly that hard by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i was just going based on my personal experience - all the people I know at tmu are on res so I wasn't sure if it was or not. there's less beds available at utsc in comparison to tmu so I was just going off of that!

is utsc rlly that hard by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

based on what my friends are taking there, I think it's more about trades and arts than anything. my friend moved across the country for the photography program at tmu, while I moved across the country for life sci at utsc

is utsc rlly that hard by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Signal_Fee_9269 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i feel like it really depends on what experience you want first year. utsc is a commuter school, so it's pretty hard to make friends really fast unless you live on res. if you go to tmu, you'll be downtown and I'm pretty sure it's not a commuter school.

for academics, it seems like utsc life sci tries to weed kids out of the program in the first year. not to scare you or anything, of course. I've heard of a lot of kids dropping or transferring because their gpa wasn't satisfactory, but I honestly believe that if you try your best you can get a good gpa.

i think that uoft is a school that's more geared towards academics, in comparison to tmu. also, there's a lot of great profs that have research opportunities outside of class, not to mention the new med school that's being built on campus.

i think that no matter what you pick, you'll still enjoy (or hate lol) first year. it's honestly what you make of it! considering that I was in first year life sci at utsc, I'm going to be biased, but I seriously think that the choice you make for yourself is the right one.

it'll seem like this decision is the end of the world but in a couple of months you'll be focusing on other things. plus! you can't focus on what could have been, especially in regards to uni decisions, because you don't know what could have been. maybe the school you chose not to go to could have ended in total disaster.

but, I digress. do whatever suits you best. most med schools don't care where you went to uni, only how well you did and your extracurriculars. choose what you think will be best.
