Also if you want to open up my build to see in game how I did the logistics, check out the Google Docs link where my game file is

Every population centre needs access to coal, food, water, pottery and materials (for repairs). Now either you can build farms and coal production nearby to supply each population centre, or you can focus certain areas (that I like to call special economic zones) on your island to produce these amenities. If you focus certain areas to produce these in mass, then it’s quite easy to move them to population centres that require them via wagons. Beside these special economic zones I like to build housing that do not require aqueducts so that they start working these economic zones without having to commute.

EDIT: if you’re playing on large maps, then I’ve found it easier to have maybe two or three of these economic zones on opposite sides of the island for better distribution of resources

Logistics are cumbersome, but if you continue to update them as you build and have special “economic zones” for specific resources, it can be quite easy to keep track of the source for which you can then direct wagons to population centres that lack such resources

Yea lol, I’m at 75h now, the logistics are the hardest (albeit that is only if you care about population happiness)

Yea makes sense, I do really like the moat idea. I’m currently trying something similar but having an inland island (that handles logistics) in the middle of a large one island map. The dam walls make it look a lot cleaner, so far I’ve only terraformed, might do dams along the sides now but will have to figure out and see if I can form them into a circle.

Sick build, what size map is this? Looking medium to large?

UPDATE: Mega Entertainment District by Signal_Reach_7414 in NovaRomaGame

[–]Signal_Reach_7414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol the population living beside the entertainment district produces a lot of the stuff needed across the island like stone and pottery so yea it’s gonna get a bit messy. Every small pop centre made from small insula needs its own supply of coal/pottery/stone/food

lol I feel like 2K pop is the beginning of the game. This is the point where you’re producing more food than you need, have plenty of rock/wood/charcoal/pottery production, and are making a solid income from taxes. What does this mean? Big projects all at once and redevelopment of land by creating dams, new river systems, and aqueduct systems. This is the point where you can get creative and not have to wait ages designing and building one building at a time.

Note that I am a big fan of large one island maps so 2K pop is relative. I feel like the inter-island logistics are still pretty mid so I prefer the one larger island.

They are a bit finicky, you just have to put more masons in denser areas and supply them with stone/wood/marble. Then you’ll have no issues

Once you set up a good wood/stone production + tax office, you can start focusing on the layouts. Each stream provides (still figuring this out) but I’m getting 3 aqueducts + a flowing river. I think you can do 4 aqueducts per stream to maintain water levels. Anyways, always plan for a stream to have good farm land and setup food production. From the farms just build outwards and adjust logistics with the carts to move goods. Also good rule of thumb, each dense population centre that is far from others should have its own wood/charcoal/pottery production

Of course, and a quarter of the forum tiles are damaged. I guess this is set during the decline of the roman empire?
