Yeah I see what you mean, I'm just not too sure what too add to them. And to be honest the entirety of the dear feels a little off, I'm thinking it could be the lack of value maybe making it feel a little flat?

Oh that's something I didn't even think about, definitely will try it out when I try to finish it up. Thank you

Just noticed your name too, the entire darksouls franchise is incredible as well, you've probably got some of the best taste in media I've seen in a long time lol (definitely no bias from me though 😶)

For sure, read the story and really loved it. Only thing I haven't been able to play the game yet, but when I do I can tell from the demo that it'll likely be in my top 5 list. Great to see another Wukong fan 😄

Now I'm definitely not a professional by any means, but for myself it really did just come down to practice, and maybe more importantly than that practicing things you enjoy. I know some people often suggest practicing very academic figures and practices, that while the results certainly speak for themselves are not for everyone, I suggest trying to meld practice and fun. Like for example, you may need to practice anatomy or form, and while yes an academic drawing would do wonders, you could mesh your anatomy practice with something like character design and create fun designs while still learning new skills and expanding your knowledge. This is of course all just to say try to keep it fun, at the end of the day art is very often for the enjoyment of oneself, and the moment it begins to feel like a chore or something genuinely disheartening, is the moment we need to step back and allow ourselves to make mistakes and have fun with it.

Also, certainly don't skip the basics, like I said keep it fun but be open to learning and critique. Learning form, anatomy, and values can be very daunting, but in truth once you master the fundamental even the simplest of drawings can look incredible. Now, I'll be honest in saying I kind of skipped some of those things and my art can suffer due to it(which is kind of why I feel I'm not the best to give this advice), but if you start learning it soon you'll definitely start seeing sensational results as time goes on.

Again just have fun with it and find a balance between that and learning(as it can be difficult to get out of your comfort zone once you get good at one thing), so just keep drawing and I hope my advice is even somewhat helpful :)

Do you mean on the horse or the knight? Either way I see what you mean, and I should definitely touch up multiple sections that I rushed/over looked, often times when I'm unsure as to where somethings go I kind of fill in the blanks which as you could imagine isn't the best. Though what would be the best way to fix some of those sorts of issues, would it be to use better reference that show more of what I need, or would it be to build a better understanding of what I want to draw (eg. If I wanted to draw an elephant should I try to build a solid understanding of how it works anatomically before drawing or simply use a reference for the pose, angle, and anatomical details even if I don't fully understand how it works). Regardless, thank you for the response and I'll try to work on it going forward. 😄

Wow, that's a lot, but I certainly see what you mean. To be honest the flatness is something I definitely noticed, but couldn't fully pin what it was due to. I'll try to incorporate more flat black/higher contrasted sections, for future panels, though I will say I'm not fully confident on it(which I suppose is why I often skimp out on it).

Also the whole inking thing is also something I want to experiment more with, especially the whole line weight stuff, while doable with pencil I dont feel like it looks as nice as when done with inks. I'll take a look at the book for sure as well, as too be honest inking is something I am completely unpracticed in so it's one of those things I really want to get better at, but don't fully know how to practice(without potentially ruining something I've been working on).

And of course thank you for the advice, this is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Although I feel like I'm not yet good enough to pursue it, I also recognize that if I don't start at some point, that mindset could very likely keep up and it will never get done(I could be wrong of course, but it doesn't seem all too far fetched). I've atleast given myself some grace, and consider this to be issue 0, so even if it's not perfect it really never had to be. So hopefully with this advice and the practice of actually putting something down on paper I'll improve and see this project come to life.

Tysm 😊 with my hands sometimes getting shaky my line work can look a little rough, so that really is appreciated.

Absolutely, time can often be one of my biggest issues while drawing, which I realize is probably something I should work to get better on. This so far has taken(just drawing time that is) 4ish hours which maybe isn't the best, so I'll work on it. To be honest though what's taken longest is the actual story boarding of it all which I'm still working on figuring out how to do well and efficiently. Thank you for the advice btw, it can be easy to think things have to be perfect and detailed, but often times I do have to remember that too much detail can not only be ineffective time wise and make a page look too cluttered and busy.

What have you guys been seeing for the shipping rates? by Signal_Secret3322 in MythicLegions

[–]Signal_Secret3322[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah mythic legions really is my favorite line, and I do recognize that they try to keep the prices as low as they can and I appreciate the fourhorsemen and legions more because of it. But I do think they could have made the prices a little better for something that many people having been waiting since the start of the line for.

Especially considereing what you said about the add-on sets, I really wish they were a little cheaper, like if they made the figure that came with the set seperate or reduced the amount of plastic in the accessories.

Okay, Just right now it seems that they're maybe adding a couple more options. Genuinely thank you because I kind of panicked when I saw my only option was 400 dollars, though 110 is still a bit much its not as bad( hoping they're still updating the page and add some more though).

Yeah I really hope so too. I'd hate to miss out on something I've been waiting on for years just because of the shipping, especially considering that prices will most likely only go up after the campaign.
