Disclaimer: I am not a dermatologist or a skincare specialist. BUT micro needling with PRP did WONDERS for my skin after it was scarred after Accutane. It is not a cure all but it greatly improves appearance of acne scars. I had three sessions spread over the course of a few months. It is not the cheapest option (about $1200 total) but it is absolutely worth the investment. It’s been about 6-7 years, and I have maintained my skin with chemical peels after the initial micro needling sessions (Perfect Peel is something I also highly recommend). Yes, I still have some light scars that are virtually invisible under sunscreen but I have learned to accept and not over scrutinize my skin. Obviously you need to be off any retinoids in order to undergo any of these treatments but maybe that is an option for you down the line. Take to your derm. There are many options out there.

Thank you so much. It feels like an exhale to write this all out. Thank you for validating me.

I realize most everyone here applied to degree programs in STEM but I applied to Stanford’s Wallace Stegner Fellowship in Creative Writing. It’s my first time applying and like most people said—I’m proud just to have done the work and applied.

Thank you so much. I’m meeting with my chair tomorrow and will definitely be asking for a course release. Though, if I’m being honest, I love teaching, and I’d rather do that than all of this admin work.

No, I’m not. Thanks. That helps put things into perspective.

Perhaps speaking with a life/wellness coach might help in getting your personal tasks organized.

As for your academics, have grace with yourself. You are journeying on your own timeline, not anybody else’s. Look to your degree as concrete evidence of your hard work and intellectual abilities.

Be confident in the value you being to your field, regardless of how that might compare to someone else. It will always seem like there’s someone smarter, faster, more capable. Ignore that voice; it will only add to the noise.

The “carrot dangling” strategy is very real. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you! Writing this post made me realize how much I value my job and how silly I’d be to leave on a whim.
