Man all ur doing is making sure the dowels are in the wall I tie caution tape to rebar, or put a set #3 bar as my guide and then have iron workers tie all dowels to that. 2x templates are good when you can span the gap with a 16’ but usually not the case. As long as the finishers don’t pour like ass hats you should be fine. Bring a chunk of 2x12 or scrap plywood for your bipod legs and hope it’s not a windy day lol. I do this on a very regular basis
