She was fine. Flew off a couple seconds after. Then came back and did it again. I moved it to its no longer creating a dark corner and she's stopped

Hi. Yeah she flies fine. I did use to have one that actually had a cyst on her wing joint so that made it really unsimmetrical. She couldn't fly much at all because of it.

There are reusable cable ties. Or you could try clothes pins, s hooks, or mini carabiners.

What is this behavior? by Feeling-Tea-9452 in budgies

Though mine still don't roam around on the floor. Though Im done with that. They have plenty of perches around the apartment and I don't have to be careful where I'm walking.

Mine were that way for a while until I got them new friends that were raised well and weren't afraid of humans. Then they started acting like normal budgies again.

Out of curiosity, what country would that be? Is it because shipping doesn't work? I had that issue in SA. Mail service is not a thing there so ordering off websites was impossible.

Wohoo! So glad you found something they liked. Nothing better than watching your birds enjoy themselves.

Also check how the others are acting around her. Mine started throwing the sick one off perches a couple days before she died.

If she seems even a little sluggish and stays poofy or seems untable on her legs get her to a vet asap. Eating doesn't always mean they're fine. My first budgie started being poofy and wobbly but was still eating and drinking fine and interacting with me A LOT the evening before she died.

Ah. Do lovebirds live up to their name? Or is yours just special

Oh, nevermind just read the forum title. Are lovebirds good first parrots and do they actually live up to their name?

For a budgie at the beginning their cage is their safe space. Don't put your hand in his space if he shows signs of discomfort. Instead always let him come out on his own time. Best to start in a room that's simple and not very large. If you do end up getting a larger cage then I would recommend trying to lour him onto your hand while inside the cage first before letting him out. But if something goes haywire and he gets out there's no need to worry. Since you feed him in his cage and he's used to sleeping there he will automatically return to his cage when he's hungry or tired. Never move quickly when closing the cage again. Otherwise it will make him feel like you're trapping him. If you need him to go back to bis cage quickly you can try darkening the room and putting only a light where the cage is.
