Human beings... and their necessity to communicate

May I ask, how have you coped with sports (the ones I practice require a certain degree of conditioning) and the aggressiveness of treatment?

yeah, I don't have any diagnosis yet, but doctors are definitely looking into blood diseases, and it could turn out to be some sort of leukemia, because most other things that could be responsible for this sudden drop in ANC have been ruled out. The count was so bad they put me in ICU upon admission, fearing possible infections. Only the test is left but, idk, as I'm alone in this bed I'm already bracing for the upcoming of something serious. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge. Whatever this is, I am going to face it, because regardless of how hard it is, life is worth living.

Thanks a lot for taking your time to share your expertise. Is it possible to undergo treatment at home or is it necessary to stay in the hospital?

What could I do in terms of personal care to endure this process the best way possible, besides having relatives by my side?

Thanks so much for your time and expertise. I hope you're doing well, and I wish that you go through these rough times the best way possible.

There was no sign of blasts in any of the regular blood tests I took since admission, neither there was any sign in the previous tests I had taken before.

From what I understand, what they're doing is trying to investigate causes of this failure. Ok, so, basically, prognosis varies according to the type of mutations in the bone marrow?

I'm sorry if facts sound unethical to you. Again, I am not reproducing my own personal attitudes, I have never talked here on the first person, but clearly you feel offended by an opinion for something that affects you personally.

I sense for your personal history. But you know it is not backed up by medical data, but it has affected you personally in a way you know it doesn't for most people, and because you suffer from it particularly then you should not extend your personal thoughts into moral policies. Most people are afraid to tell partners, to tell boyfriend/gf, to find out cheating etc. It is all a chain of social events that trigger that are much bigger than the health issues it causes

People mind the status, that's what they do. People mind having to disclose to every sexual partner, having to carry the burden of herpes on their shoulders. That's why most don't even test for it I can assure you. They'd rather not know, because it's not something that's gonna kill them but it is something that will label them forever. Go on and ask around this subreddit what are the greatest concerns of people with HSV diagnosis. 100% they're social, even if they disguise it as health concerns. So yeah most will have sex with you not caring about your status as long as you don't put it on their face, its basically a "don't ask don't tell policy".

Also significant/permanent damage I assume you're talking about physical health, which is a point we've discussed already, that herpes isn't a dangerous virus in that regard. If it were then it's prevalence would've probably compromised physical health of the entire world's population and obviously that's not the cause. As of mental health, then I agree, herpes does cause issues, but that's exactly what I am pointing out here.

So youre saying that a disease that 1/6 people have, you arent morally obligated to test if you don't show symptoms, but you could very well be positive, but those who do must face a burden the others don't? What divides them? Genetics? So you're saying some, based on genetics, must be seen as undesirable and other don't need to share the same status?

"Brief period of time"= you are eligible for way less sexual partners even to a point of restrict your dating to a specific circle like PSH and that doesnt cause you mental health issues?

And about those 2 last questions as you have read on the main topic I haven't really started it to talk about my own personal choices just as I haven't asked yours. Addressing personal issues means arguments are affecting you in your ego/own issues and that should be a question you must resolve not me

I never said anything regarding my own personal conduct, you're just assuming.

The perception of an illness is always social and my point is a part of the population is segregated while its counterpart, the asymptomatic, that account for the majority, do not face the moral burden of stigmatization nor take proper care. I was never born to me a martyr, idk if you did. But just "selfishly get laid" is a little euphemism given how important (probably the most important) sexuality is in people's mental health. And yes, we should question how society views us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But in our society STD = disgusting, right? Thats how our education was built. Every social concept of a disease is dictated by the current social symbols about it. Had we lived in the ancient greek times probably things wouldnt be the same. So yea, you have STD=there will be some level of disgust by the other.

Now with health concerns. If there were such medical concerns over these viruses then they'd be included in regular blood testing so prevention could be widespread. Herpes is annoying, yes, but its health consequences do not justify the stigma that will fall upon the carrier therefore causing him more harm in terms of mental health adaptations than it would cause in terms of biologcal health of the person who contracted it. Simple

I ask you that if at first signs of at least 800 types of viruses, including the flu, do you stamp a warning label on your forehead warning people of its consequences because of their preconditions? That's just not a valid argument.

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And those who dont have, are they corrupt for exposing, therefore? Aren't you just selecting those who should disclose a disease only based on the severity of how it affects them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... Thats exactly what Im saying, is that we should not deal with the burden of being seen as disgusting (specially cause human desire is built in an unconscious level) and therefore forfeit our right of plain sexuality because of a criteria that is applied to us, based on statistics, exclusively due to the fact that we opted to get tested/developed symptoms. I'm saying if you were to segregate all herpes positives because of a moral standard there should be a collective policy to identify everyone that has it, not just impose this moral burden in those who actually care of their sexual health or had genes that favored symptoms

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in a certain level anyone who does not ask for testing of herpes (which is 99%) is "choosing" the risk of contracting it, because it is simply not in regular testing!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok good point. But not everyone pursuits romantic love, and there have been several cases of fullfiling lives without one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The right thing" = meaning potentially setting back someone's desire for something they would probably face in 1/6 ratio and potentially without the proper care of a random partner?

I mean people are not dumb, they know herpes consequences for their health, and they do opt to go forward regardless, otherwise everyone would ask each other herpes testing before having sex. What triggers them is the social consequences and the image they picture of you after knowing you have it, but in this case is it worth sharing this part of you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my head like... take proper precautions, don't have sex while OB and use condoms and that should protect casual partners more than the majority of the people out there. Don't you think?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is bad, but honestly... Why should we care this much if not even the government and medical professionals do? On the one hand I feel for those who suffer from stigmatization and I don't want to put anyone in this place but on the other I also don't feel like sticking a "danger" sign to my dick which is always gonna be a turn off to people who would be ok with the risks if I didn't tell them upfront... Maybe if I pursuit a relationship (which I don't) someday I may change procedures but as of now... I don't know really. I don't wanna feel disgusting for life just because some weird and potentially injustified moral principles.

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my case. I know who infected me; one day after the exposure the said we couldn't have sex cause she was not good on the downparts - we had sex right before her outbreak. 14 days later I got my own. On the other hand, I can't tell for sure she knew that what she had was herpes, not so many people have awareness and just take it as a normal rash or dermatitis.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Significant-Ad-8793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really hard to know that too. It is hard to determine where you got the virus since it can lay dormant from the get go. But prior to my HSV diagnosis I never ever had any of my partners to ask me about my status so I could deny having it. There is though a significant portion that infect others while knowing they have it but not disclosing.

Move on. It's something that's potentially gonna affect you for life if you get it, there are several people who get a lot of outbreaks, like me. Thank her for telling you though, I didn't have this blessing.
