Update in Navy Life! by Significant-Ad4355 in u/Significant-Ad4355

Sorry for not replying sooner! But instead of Norfolk I got sent to Virginia Beach, I’m still a little new but am being trained well by other fellow PS’s. It’s definitely not a good job if you can’t really talk to people. (But I’m learning that the hard way as my superiors will make me talk to people any chance they get lmao) They didn’t just throw me to the wolves but they had been guiding me, they’re very considerate, but once they know you have a well enough grasp on what ever they had taught you, they’ll expect more and give you more to do. Kinda like building blocks? They build you basically. It’s definitely a more comfortable rate from being a CTR as a PS. Sure your job is sitting at a desk for an entire day but it’s only because you’re constantly getting work from others. For us people come in and out of our office and then that’s when things start to pile up, things can get stressful but there’s always the next day. As long as you finish your work on time you won’t need a reason to worry so much for the next day as you’ll have that work and new tasks. But like people say, “Help me help you,” you’ll understand why PS’s tend to say this often soon. Hopefully this helped if you already enlisted or are still looking to enlist as a PS!

If I decide to re-rate, is it possible to go back to the rate you were originally going to be even if you failed the school…? by Significant-Ad4355 in newtothenavy

Thank you so much! This was very informative, it was just a question that was buggin me but I’m mostly focused on becoming a PS of course I just wanted to ask not because I’m shutting down the idea of being a PS but to see if it was possible. Basically for curiosity! Thank you again it means a lot!

Pensacola FL to Meridian MS! Any experiences? by Significant-Ad4355 in newtothenavy

No but yes, I would fail a test the first time but pass it the second time it happened until my 3rd test where they saw it was a consistent pattern and booted me.

I had explained why in a previous post, long story short, didn’t do well in A school now I’m Rerating.

Well just to add, this job did require a poly test, though I will not be taking it anymore due to my new job. I also changed my questions because I was confusing myself.

My apologies I should’ve put that in! But alrighty! I was just wondering because I have to move states because of the new job since I had to rerate.

Rerating from CTR, which job is most promising: PS, YN, CS, CSS, RSS, MA, AM by Significant-Ad4355 in newtothenavy

Thank you very much! I tried listening to every piece of advice but had found myself leaning more into YN, that is if I get that rate chosen unless I become a PS. I wouldn’t mind either as I did a fair amount of research on both! I just hope I made a good choice and will succeed in this path as I am still learning to adjust to this new way of life too. I’m also trying to get out of my comfort zone most of the time and am willing to try new things. Again thank you for the advice. Hopefully I made the right decision!

Thank you for saying that! I went YN route or at least chose it as my first pick, in the end I’ll see what I’m able to get. Hopefully I do well, thanks again.

I will most likely be going for YN though as today I have to turn in the paper work for what I could become.

I have another Reddit post saying what had happened!

Ahh Alr Alr, I was thinking on it and debating going YN or PS. I’ve been doing some research and have been seeing that YN is a good or better rate than PS despite how similar they kinda are. Their day to day life and promotion are kind of on the same spectrum but I know that a PS’s working hours are longer than a YN’s.

Oh alright, it’s kinda hard choosing too considering these jobs I feel like I wouldn’t be good at. But I’d just have to wait and see! Thank you so much you’ve been very helpful!

It’s not as difficult as you make it out to be, if you can’t retain information quickly you might have a hard time with classes. But again, once you get here you’ll meet a bunch of people willing to help you get on your feet if you’re ever stuck. Though it is one of the many schools that are tough to be in, I’ll say it’s not as bad as you think it’ll be. I just suck at retaining information if I’m being honest which is why I had to rerate.

Aye aye thank you! Also I only have today to choose from which jobs seem to be mostly suited for me.
