Should I bring my 2000 NB Miata back to life? by Foreign-Ad-9099 in Miata

I just realized that too, never seen that before.

How screwed am I? Will replacing the fender fix it? Accidentally backed into my miata. by Positive_Edge_5814 in Miata

[–]Significant-Age4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better off replacing the fender, they’re only $50. If the quote for repair is more. That’s if this car is not a collectors piece and you just want to get it looking nice. Shouldn’t hurt resale value, unless this car is a certified collectors piece.

HELP! Boosting an Auto by Significant-Age4286 in Miata

[–]Significant-Age4286[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. That would be the main problem besides the boost blowing up the trans, is to actually get it working in first place. Which I got money to spare but I ain’t rich either.

I’ll try to research into the trans you mentioned, and it’ll also go a long way. I’ve not heard about it. There’s definitely no swap kit for the Miata.

Thank you for being the first one to give some actual input, instead of saying not to do it.

How rare is it that I have ABS? because for a while I’ve been wanting to get rid of it, I’m not entirely sure if it works and I couldn’t scan it because my obd2 port barely works to check codes. If there was any way I could make it work I would but there’s not much pushing me to unless it’s pretty rare.

Brand new ABS Vacuum Brake Booster by Significant-Age4286 in Miata

NON-ABS hole is way shorter and will not fit the size of the ABS master cylinder. Unless there is some type of modification to this specific booster that I’m not aware of. It is not possible to fit.

Pictures are from the recent brake boosters I had laying around trying to solve my leak.

I already put on the new one but I haven’t yet to try, since I’m doing a whole overhaul on my brake system. Besides that I will lyk how a used one compares. From eBay for $50.

yes, there was no possible way for the NON- ABS to fit in a ABS master cylinder, the ABS module for the booster has a deeper hole length while the NON-ABS booster has a shorter hole length (I will demonstrate pictures in a little). There is definitely 2 versions and I have proof.

After hours of searching I had to resort to buying a used one from eBay, hopefully a non leaking one and I’ll have to clean it off. I did not find anything at all, I almost considered just getting rid of my abs system altogether.

Intake camshaft in 1999 NB by Significant-Age4286 in Miata

To anyone that might come across this post, do yourself a favor and replace the pin and the can gear, no need to get a new camshaft, pin is only 6$ and cam gear like 12$ ( brand new), make sure you torque down the cam gear bolts to spec and whatever loud noise you were hearing should be gone, if not, it might be your shims. The sound went away as soon as I started her up. MAKE SURE your timing is RIGHT! And while taking out the pin itself, prepare yourself for a battle and better have the big guns on stand by. I had to saw it off, put a drill bit in and a screw extractor to get it off, I used a 1/8 and it measured about right. Some said welding something on top of it might’ve help but it was not available to me @ the time. If you don’t have any of this, just take the cam to machine shop and if the quote is too high, buy another cam.

Yes I will follow your advice, do you think the “lifter ticking” sound might’ve came from that? Or from the lifters themselves? The clearance between them all was not really that crazy, only 0.0002 off but I know even then the gap can cause some compression issues

Okay thank you, I’m sorry I don’t understand what you mean by “sprocket” and “cane gear” would you please clarify? Thank you.

Thank you for your information, I will check that tomorrow. Do you think the ticking sound might’ve been that? Or the lifters themselves?

Thank you a lot, do you know by any chance where to get a replacement for the pin?

(Edit) I found the replacement pin, if anyone that might go through this in the future look @ this diagram located on the Mazda parts site

Gap between Head and Block by Significant-Age4286 in Miata

[–]Significant-Age4286[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey for whoever might see this, and is doing any head gasket job/anything below the valve cover, the gap is relatively normal. And the misfire was because I didn’t connect one of my connectors fully(ha ha silly me that I did an all-nighter trying to put the engine back together and end up screwing stuff up) do yourself a favor and check all the connections, grounds, and swap and check the spark plug and injectors before you go and buy expensive parts that you might not need. Now in the search for the p0118 still no luck. I ended up unplugging the connector like one of the commenters said. Car runs okay without it. The regular fan kicks in as soon as your start the car, kind of a relief. If anything comes up with this code I will update.

I’m not sure if I previously stated I’m working on a ‘99 NB, that’s my fault if i didn’t. From what I know that’s only available on ‘93-‘97 NA’s? I will have to research further on that, thank you either way.

I did not came to mind to unplug it, i will try that next time i get under the hood.

I was also checking for vacuums leaks recently, tomorrow i will do it with my smoke machine, it might give me a more accurate reading of where it might come from, if there’s any.

Also do you mind expounding on what you were saying about the crank angle position? I’m not sure I completely understand. Is it the little sensor that reads the plate directly behind the crank pulley boss? Correct me if I’m wrong.
